I don't know of any place where it is documented, but 3rd party
registration is the clean way to implement the boss/secretary phone
relationship.

Registration is used for routing incoming requests and has no role in
outgoing requests.

Registering is just needed to receive requests. When a UA is registered it
says "I'm here". But it that UA just wants to send a request it's not needed
at all to be registered.

Sorry not to describe my question clearly. User Agent --> SIP/SGW --->
. .>SIP/SGW> Client.

I think firstly, the UA should be bound to the SIP. I am not sure before I
sending sms message to the client, should I Register with SIP ?

I hope this description is clear.

[Sip-implementors] Question about sip registration for user agent

2008-11-09 Thread Zhang Erica
Hi,

I am a newbie for sip. I am trying to develop a user agent to send sms
message to the client, whose address I already know. I wonder before sending
the sms message, should I send register message to sip ?

Thanks,

Erica
