Re: [sisuite-users] Problem with restoring image from System Imager
Got past the previous by upgrading to 4.1.6. Now a new problem has arised. Our systems (i386) are configured to use software RAID1. We have 2 disk drives in each system and we mirror the drives. I am able to create a golden image of this system. Now when I try to push the image out on the golden client, it appears to load the image fone, but on reboot something is not right with the mirrors. Here is the output on bootup of the golden client after reloading the golden image: Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel. Red Hat Nash version 6.0.19 starting mdadm: no devices found for /dev/md0 mdadm: no devices found for /dev/md1 EXT3-fs:unable to read superblock mount: error mounting /dev/root or /sysroot as ext3: Invalid argument setuproot: moving /dev/failed: No such file or directory setuproot: error mounting /proc: No such file or directory setuproot: error mounting /sys: No such file or directory switchroot: mount failed: No such file or directory -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Andrea Righi Sent: Wednesday, May 07, 2008 3:11 AM To: Fulda, Paul (Mission Systems) Cc: sisuite-users@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: Re: [sisuite-users] Problem with restoring image from System Imager Fulda, Paul (Mission Systems) wrote: I am running System Imager version 4.0.2. BOEL binaries are always needed, because they also include all the userspace binaries that can't be shipped with initrd (in order to optimize it for size). Are you imaging a i386 client, right? Do you see something strange in kernel messages (what's the output of dmesg from busybox command line)? Have you tried to re-image with BOEL? -Andrea - This SF.net email is sponsored by the 2008 JavaOne(SM) Conference Don't miss this year's exciting event. There's still time to save $100. I am running System Imager version 4.0.2. I am using UYOK (or at least that is what I am trying to do). Re: [sisuite-users] New to SystemImager and need some help
I reloaded all of the perl modules and SI RPM's and everything seems to be working fine. I do have another problem which I will open a new thread on. I have created a systemimager-server (Fedora 6 machine) and a systemimager-client (Fedora 3 machine). I have managed to create an image of the Fedora 3 machine on the systemimager server. Now I want to be able to push the image back out to other machines and this is where I am having problems. I want to do a network noot install using PXE on the clients. I am having trouble running si_netbootmond on the server. When I execute the /etc/init.d/system-imager-netbootmond start I get a failed. There are no other messages other than that. Can anyone give me some ideas on what to check that might cause netbootmond from starting? Which version of SystemImager are you using? Did you start it as root or via sudo? What happens if you try to run the si_netbootmond manually (/usr/sbin/si_netbootmond)? -Andrea - This SF.net email is sponsored by the 2008 JavaOne(SM) Conference Don't miss this year's exciting event. [sisuite-users] Problem with restoring image from System Imager
Scenario: Created an image of a Fedora 8 machine successfully to the Image Server. I am now trying to restore the image back on the client machine just to test. I am doing the restore to the client using PKE doing a network boot from the Image Server. In doing this here is what I have run up against.
