jale have infact released three vids for their Closed ep
how did they afford it
one Double Edge was sponsored by VideoFACT and the other two
Jesus Loves Me and Long way Home were hand made at very low cost, shot on
Super eight by Eve-Jesus Loves Me, and Jennifer-Long Way Home
and they were eddited with the help of Ann Verrall at the Center For rt
Tapes, an Artist run Center here in Halifax.
You do not need $20 000 to make a video
just a great idea, it is the perfect oportunity for those
Spike Jonzes who think music is cool but there skills are visual not
musical...

what the *HELL* happened to stinkin rich a.k.a. the buck sixty fifth
a.k.a. DJ critical a.k.a. richard terfry??? i always figured his beard
was like, a constant, as inevitable as death and taxes, as right as rain.
tonight on much*subliminalhatemessagestojonbartlett*east, there was
footage from birdland's anniversary party (hi brendan-on-tv-ryan!) and
i noticed the glaring absence of rich's goatee thing. PLUS he was wearing
indie nerd glasses - he almost looked like jon dacey!!! :)

has jale released *three* videos for their EP? long way home was shown
tonight, someone mentioned a video for jesus loves me a while ago, and
i've seen a video for double edge a few months back. how did they
afford to do this?

did eric's trip ever release a video for girlfriend as was rumored here
ages ago?

doesn't bellini look sorta like marc from len?

did both pressings of the bubaiskull 7'' run out yet?

that is all, thank you.

did any of the halifax people on the list
see the article in _the coast_ about stinkin' rich
and misogyny/sexism? comments, anyone?

Not a Halifax people but I did read the article this evening. Not knowing,
Stinkin' (or do I have to call him Mr Rich?) I have to assume that he was
sincere in his explanantion and that he was misunderstood by the author of
the piece. A couple of things struck me though.
1)If she misunderstood his intent, and she seems, at least from the article
to be intelligent and capable of objective and critical thought, what must
the other less mentally robust members of the audience have taken away from
it? It reminds me of the John Doe interview a few weeks ago in *The History
Of RnR - PuNk* show where he talked about having to stop playing an
anti-rape song because the nazis in the audience started thinking it was a
pro-rape song. Subtlety is often lost on boneheads.
2) Stinkin' mentions his love of the NYC rap scene and how they are not
misogynistic like the Miami and west coast artists. I guess that wouldn't
include PE because Flavor Flav, to put it mildly, has been invloved in some
non-feminist activities. Digable Planets are mentioned, rightly so as
positive influences (Blowout Comb is a great record) - could that be because
they are a sexually mixed group. (interestingly they are also not native
NYers) Off the top of my head I can't think of another group with male and
female rappers.

Man, talking about hip hop on sloanet - it *has* been a wacky week.

PS Friz Freleng died today. If you don't know who he was - find out. He was
one of the few about whom you could say that he made this a planet worth
visiting.

Yeah Rich's new material is the tightest of tight, on Murder (methinks)
15 songer, new this week, get it, get it, I really hope this is the one
that gets him lots of play, cause it's a shame when all these wack mc's
of today go platnum and mc's out east aren't even going cardboard... _yet_
I'm with Avi, so go pick up a copy tomorrow, not to support local talent,
but because it really is good. I give it three x's.
I'm out like the left foot in hokey-pokey... Brendan

Twice Removed represents a delicate balance between four people.
Its title is sort of like a disclaimer. When you say someone is
a first cousin, twice removed, it implies relationship, but also
a separation. Some days we're a unit, some days we're totally
   different.- Chris Murphy
