Re: [SLUG] CodeCave 2011 - one month to go!

What an excellent idea! Code, cave, eat, code, cave, sleep etc.

I won't be coming, but I wish the project well!

 Hi all!

I'm running a unique event one month from now - CodeCave. We go up to
Yarrangobilly Caves for a weekend and code, talk, code, eat, code,
sleep and code. There's no set topic, you don't have to be an expert
coder, and you won't have any internet access to distract you!
(Although if Tridge has his way...) The cost is somewhere between
$60 and $100 for the whole weekend. You can bring your own food but
I'll also be arranging a group menu for the interstate travellers.

I've got a few people from Sydney coming (who will have got an email
from me), so if you're interested and haven't received an email from
me about this please get in contact. I've got about 11 people out of
a maximum of 14 or so. It's first in best bunked, and I only have a
limited number of rooms left. I am arranging people that can pick
interstate visitors up from the airport if you don't feel like
 driving the entire way.

Thanks for reading, and hope to see you soon!

 Have fun,

 Paul

 Hi all,

At the Friday SLUG meeting just gone a number of
people put their hands up who were interested in
 volunteering for the Ed Expo.

Can you please write to me with your details and a
 (V. BRIEF) outline of any experience you have with
 'nix or expo-type things.

NO-ONE will be excluded. Even if you have only
just started using Gnu/Linux, this is not a
problem. I'm interested in enthusiasm as much as
 knowledge and experience.

Additionally I'm still seeking more people who
represent the broader community of Gnu/Linux users
 :

Thanks to all who have already nominated themselves.

As more information comes to hand I'll be
 contacting everyone.

At present we are awaiting a response as to financing.

Re: [SLUG] Reminder: nominations for 2009 SLUG Elections are open!

2009-03-26 Thread Lisa Roberts
Hi Sridhar,

Do you know a way of converting a .lnx document, and its Jabref, to
Word for Windows and Endnote?

What a question! (I hear you say).

My supervisor wants me to send him my thesis as a Word .doc. so he can
make changes. But I like using Lyx and Jabref.

Is there some solution?

Cheers,

Lisa

SLUG membership is $15 for students, and $25 for everyone else. If you
would like your membership cancelled so as not to receive further
mails like this, please email commit...@slug.org.au indicating that.

Voting will occur at the meeting by show of hands by financial
members (identified by possession of a membership card). Members
unable to attend in person may appoint a proxy to vote on their

[SLUG] scanner for Linux

2009-02-09 Thread Lisa Roberts
Hi

My HP3300C A4 flatbed scanner has just died, and I am seeking something
to replace it.

Can anyone advise on a currently available scanner that will work with
Linux?

New or second-hand is OK.
