[SLUG] Calender Syncing...yet again

2007-12-03 Thread Trent Murray
Hi all,

The issue of finding a piece of opensource software that runs on a linux box
and allows outlook users to share calendars continues to evade me.

I have many customers that need this functionality (as they all use windowz
clients and most use Outlook that syncs with thier PDA's or phones)

Is there anything out there that is GPL FREE and talks to outlook calendars
WITHOUT needing to purchase connector software?

My kingdom for a GPL calendar server!!!

I currently have a customer using MailMarshall Email filter - this

spamassassin that can be used by Jo User without too much
complication?

getting confused and cant figure out which display it should send the
output. All in all - i am very happy and grateful for everyones help.

Simon Males thanks for suggesting Vista - i dont know why i didnt

[SLUG] Quicktime Frustrations

2007-07-09 Thread Trent Murray

Hi all,

Recently obtained some video tutorials relating to Apache, PHP and MySQL
however they are in quicktime .mov format and I cant seem to get the video
to play.

I have tried gxine, mplayer, VLC and I am ashamed to say RealPlay - I cant
believe the people that made these tutorials didnt think to use a format
that was actually readable under Linux.

So long story short - Can anyone tell me how to get Quicktime to play under
Linux? (and preferably Ubuntu)

I've used dimension data for citrix in the past and they were pretty good,
http://www.ddls.com.au

another alternative that the windows guys where I work use is new horizons
http://www.nhaustralia.com.au their advantage is you don't have to
complete the courses in a block of days if thats difficult for you to
arrange, you can do them a day or two a week, not instructor led, but you
have access to the instructor on site if you need, otherwise self paced at
their site.

I don't know why not. I have had far more problems with SATA, esp mobo

[SLUG] CUPS Dying

Hi all,

I'm currently running Ubuntu Feisty and am sharing a HP LaserJet over
SAMBA/CUPS to two windows hosts at home. The issue is CUPS dies if the

that have been sent to the spool actually get sent to the printer.

Anyone know what might be going on here?

Cheers in advance! (after all it is Anzac day!)

[SLUG] Call for interested people - Scalix Wiki for Ubuntu

2007-04-14 Thread Trent Murray

Hi everyone,

This is a call to anyone interested in participating in putting together a
Ubuntu Scalix 'How To' wiki for LTS versions of Ubuntu.

Recently Scalix released its products under the Mozilla license and version
11 now includes the outlook plugins. This product is now known as the
Scalix Community Edition (see: www.scalix.com for more info). Scalix is now
a true M$ Exchange replacement for the Linux community with many promising
features.

While official packages exist for both SUSE and Fedora, getting Scalix up
and running under Ubuntu is no simple task.

As a result, I am considering putting together a "Wiki/How To" and am
currently looking for other interested people to join me in in an attempt to
assist everyone in the Ubuntu community to get this project up and running
with the minimum of fuss.

If you are interested but feel as though you lack experience dont worry too
much - after all we will all document our successes and any problems along
the way.

Drop me a line if you're interested and we will make a start!

various companies sitting on the same filesystem.

I think some of these mirrors must be badly screwed. I switched to the
Pacific mirror to try it and pulled the "updates" with no problem, but
the "extras" froze, consistently on the same file, the first one to be
downloaded.

[SLUG] Backup System - Any recommendations

2007-02-22 Thread Trent Murray

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a backup solution that can be run centrally from a
linux box and can also backup windows boxes on a LAN

Apart from performing basic incremental data backups it will also need to be
able to perform disk imaging over the wire (e.g disk images of windows boxes
to be stored on the linux server to prevent me from having to reinstall XP
and every other application known to man when disks fail)

Compression is also a must have.
