Re: [SLUG] OT: Optus cable problem?

Since then it is fine. Sounds like my problem: the technician tested the signal strength and said the noise was high - he spent most of his time outside the house attending to the box outside to improve the signal-to-noise ratio, and said more work would be needed to tune up an amplifier (?) further down the street. I must say, I like the Optus people. luke -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html
[SLUG] OT: Optus cable problem?
I've just been off the net with a suspected Cable modem failure (Optus, 26 hrs). But it's just spontaneously started working again. Anyone else here experienced the same thing, or was it really just me? luke -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User's Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ Subscription info and FAQs: http://slug.org.au/faq/mailinglists.html

Anyone else here experienced the same thing, or was it really just me? Consider the heat of the day. I had a P100 box as a firewall and it would stop working during the day when it was extremely hot. Heat can expand things and open a dry solder joint or cause problems with computers not cooled correctly. I had a problem with the cable.
