Re: [RCSE] Interesting photo!
It had to be staged... It looks like a composite photo. Also, in order for that plane to fly in that attitude in the crow mode it would have to be flying at 40 MPH. If the plane was coming in nose high, i would believe it RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Send "subscribe" and "unsubscribe" requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: [RCSE] bagging glass wings trouble
Hello Rick Your problem sounds like a different one from the one that Jim described. I would guess that it is a little cool where you are working and that you did not use any type of hot box or anything other than room temperature. If I am right that Epoxy can cure for two weeks and not be cured. It must go through the exothermal process or it will never cure. Also if you have a slight off balance of mixture it can also cause problems. Mylar will bond until the Epoxy is completely cured and then it will release very easy. I am only offering helpful suggestions as we all have had trouble at one time or another. And we can learn from all of our mistakes if we share the information. Let me know if I am close on my guess. If you want any info. on hot boxes I can send you a copy of an article that I wrote for RCSD. Also another good source of technical data is available from West Systems Technical Manual and Catalog. I hope that this helps. Del RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Send "subscribe" and "unsubscribe" requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[RCSE] Update to Sailplane Survey
By popular demand I have added two items to the Sailplane Survey. First I have added a field to enter the sailplane's airfoil. Second I am going to put a email link to email the person who submitted comments about a sailplane. Note - I have changed the survey page to explain my intended use of your email address. THIS IS COMPLETELY OPTIONAL. For the people who have submitted reviews and included their email addresses - I will not create an email link on a page without first getting permission to do so from you. By the way we have reached a milestone. To date I have received 100 sailplane reviews! Woohoo! [RCSE] GAST Pump Question
I will be bagging 4 sets of HLG wings this week and wanted to know if it's ok to run my pump pretty much non stop for about 8 days. I will be bagging a half a wing a night, so 4 complete sets will take 8 x 24 hours. The procedure I have in place is to have 2 bags setup, (one which will have the wing under pressure from the night before, and one to place in the new core set). As soon as I release the current set from pressure, I will be hooking the pump up to the new set. The GAST pump I have is a 'non-reservoir' type which means it runs all the time. Anyone know if this is going to be a problem for the pump? Thanks Again, Jeff Winder Attachmate Tech Support. RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. [RCSE] Re: Soaring V1 #1252
Paul, You can spray the film from the outside, but what works best is to spray the underside of the film before application, so it doesn't get scratched up. I've also sprayed the balsa structure itself to give different colors top and bottom, though it's not as effective as coloring larger areas of the covering. I used transparent monokote just on the bottom-centert and ips of my Elipstik 460 and it helps orientation quite a bit, and looks great - very buggy! Steve Britton I have a small Electric A/C covered with mylar film. The Clear covering over balsa frame looks way cool. But Clear is hard to stay oriented. Can I lightly spray paint some stripes over mylar covering? RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Send "subscribe" and "unsubscribe" requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: [RCSE] Sagitta 900 weight
Hi David, The Sagitta 900 should weigh about 58 oz. as near as I can remember. The CG is best 5/8" behind the CG on the plans unless this has been corrected on later additions. I have built 7 900's and 7 600's but haven't even looked at one for several years. Hope this helps some. Regards, Art David A. Malone wrote: Some may recall the post I put out last month on the tail heavy Sagitta 900. I removed the balsa sheeting on the flying horizontal Stab, removed a bunch of old epoxy and covered the feathers back up with monokote. after adding nose weight to get the cg just ahead of the spar, I now have an all up flying weight of 72 oz. If I have calculated correctly I now have a wing loading of 11.5 oz/ft2. Can any of the sagitta specialists tell me if I am in the ball park now? thanksDave RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. [RCSE] wiring question
I am finishing a large scale glider with lots of hi-torque servos and don't like the idea of the combined servo current running throught the rx. If I take the battery leads (actually the leads from the battery plug) and wire them to a positive and a negative terminal. Wire all the positive and negative servo leads to these terminals, plug only the servo signal wires into the rx and run a power plug in from the terminals to the rx. Would that work? Re: [RCSE] wiring question
I seriously doubt you are exceeding the power buss on the RX's PCB (printed circuit board). Most, if not all modern RX's boards can handle 10A continuous. The highest performance servos (digital, regular case-size) are barely exceeding 2A, even when fully stalled. If you insist on isolating servo power, the GND needs to be common between the RX and servos. Re: [RCSE] wiring question
It is common practice on large-scale birds to separate the servo power wiring from the signal wires to the Rx. Remember, though, that the servo power wire and signal wire share a ground wire (the "power negative wire" and make sure there is a good connection between the Rx and that common ground. --Bill On Thu, 25 May 2000 07:59:29 -0700 Neal Capener [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I am finishing a large scale glider with lots of hi-torque servos and don't like the idea of the combined servo current running throught the rx. Since this is topic is better served on the eflight list this is the last I'll post about the Picojet on RCSE. I've gotten a number of replies wondering if you can use a sp400 and a Gunther prop on the Picojet. Multiplex recommends a 480 for the Combat version, and I think either version should use at least this size motor. When I talked to Karlton earlier today he said that there is only a few grams difference between the stryo and EPP versions. I think it needs a lot more than the 480 and that's why I'm moving the Kontronik from the stryo over to the EPP version. I, like a number of people were under whelmed when they tried the first Picos that Karlton got. Since I had the 400-22 free due to a hold up on another project I decided to throw it in and see if it improved the "funability" of the Pico. Some might consider it rather frivolous to throw such a nice motor into a flying beer cooler, but it sure is a fun plane to fly fast in rather confined areas. If you're interested in brushless motors then a check of Aveox, Astroflight, and Kontronik's web sites should give you an idea of what's available: http://www.aveox.com http://www.astroflight.com http://www.kontronik.com Sal at NSP handles Kontronik in the US, but you can order direct. js At 03:11 PM 5/24/00 -0400, you wrote: I made sure to get the motors with the ones I have. FWIW, A close pixel by pixel examination of the photo shows no evidence of tampering. Even the shadow is correct.
