[RCSE] More Mid-South Kudos

2000-06-27 Thread Charles Robinett

This was my first mid South contest and I wanted to take the opportunity to
thank Ed Wilson and the rest of the LASS club members for a great contest
experience. The LASS club worked through bad winch lines, high winds, rain,
heat humidity and even some nice flying conditions to put on a great
contest. There were no scoring errors or radio interference problems over
the two days and everyone was more than friendly.

Ed and his crew also assembled a long list of raffle prizes (thanks to all
the vendor that gave so generously), next time I will buy more tickets!!!

Thanks again LASS, I am looking forward to going to the Mid-South's when it
return to Louisville.

Chuck Robinett

[RCSE] Cure for Mime HTML Formats

2000-06-27 Thread rsiegel

Recently, I've been sending posts to the Canard Aviator's Exchange. (See
www.canard.com) I haven't been able to change out of Mime and/or HTML
format. Well, I got a post from the admin who edits EVERY post before it
goes up. (Thanks to Bob the Moderator!)

He sent me the following cures. Looks like they work, and they're
embarrassingly simple. Try 'em, we'll like 'em. Rudy

Hi, I have enclosed a recent email you have sent to c-a.

Please notice the "HTML" format you sent it in. As you can see the c-a
listserver doesn't like it and we have to "edit" all the extra "stuff" ("=")
out before it can be sent out to the rest of the group.

If you use Outlook Express, go to Tools, then choose Options, then under
Send tab change HTML format to Plain Text format.

If you use NetScape, go to Edit, then preferences, then under "Mail
Groups" choose messages. Under the "Messages properties", be sure the box
next to "By default, send HTML messages" is not checked.

Somewhere on your browser there is an option to send html and one not to
format html. Please choose the "not". It can be a real PIA when we get 30 or
so c-a emails a day. G

Also, you could also be sending us email in MIME format, it does almost the
same thing (editing point of view) and you may have to check those settings
as well.

If you use NetScape Select EDIT | PREFERENCES | MESSAGES and make sure the
"button" that says, "As is (Does not work well with some mail servers) is
chosen. Do not send in MIME format. As you can see below your message has to
be heavily edited whether it was sent in HTML *or* MIME.

If you use OutLook You will have to go to TOOLS | OPTIONS. Click on the SEND
tab. Use the "Plain Text" button. Under the "Plane Text Settings" button, be
sure you have the Uuencode selected. (Do not use MIME).

If you see this message in the header:

"This message is in MIME format. Since your mail reader does not understand
this format, some or all of this message may not be legible."

You are sending in MIME, take the appropriate measures outline above.

If your message was sent in HTML you will see "equal" marks at the end of
every sentence and of course they have to be "edited" out.

Thanks. Bob the Moderator

Re: [RCSE] Which higher-end computer TX?

2000-06-27 Thread Nxtdoor

I would not count out the Stylus due to the ant. ball or the non-digital
trims. I speak from experience. I had a Futaba 9ZAP for 5 years I sold to
get the Stylus. I feel for sailplanes it is far better.

I thought at first I would die without the digital trims, but I now know how
much better the trim memory system is on the Sytlus. It can't be beat.

If the ant. ball moves around too much for you, glue it in one place with
CA.
