Re: [RCSE] JR receiver repair

2000-08-18 Thread Sam Cardinal

Try Radio South in FL. They rechanneled my RD6000 Tx including XTAL for $32.
They packaged it securely for return too.
Good people and they answer their own phones. Ask for Tony.

Does anyone know where I can send my JR R600 in for repair? It
sat up on Mt. Hebo for a month inside a Zagi during the early
Oregon spring and now doesn't work. It was stuck in the top of a
tree. Mother Nature was kind enough to help me get it down, but it
took awhile.

[RCSE] Tricks

2000-08-18 Thread Cliff Lindgren

I would like to say thank you to all who responded
to my inquiry on their method of installing push
rods in a long fuse. Most of the responses were
great, a few were far fetched. One nut suggested
stuffing a Gordy cell with 6 minute epoxy into the
fuse. I hope he doesn't spend much time wondering
why he never wins a TD contest if this is an
example of his building techniques. I got several
excellent ideas.
Thank you

[RCSE] Ace MicroPro Repairs

2000-08-18 Thread Mark Miller

Hi All...

I have an Ace Micropro TX which was bought awhile back
but never seemed to work. I have contacted a few radio
repair places which said they repaired them but was
told that they no longer do. I have spoken to two of
the repair places which advertise in the magazines and
they both told me to try sending it to the other one
for repairs. Does anyone know who does? I would like
to use it if possible or if it is unrepairable part it
out to you folks who have them. It is a dual stick
with 2 FM RF Decks. it might be working now but I sure
can't seem to make it.

Cheers,

Mark

See http://www.jps.net/cabi/mp8k.html, this is a site dedicated to MP8K
support, you may wish to join the group/list. The subject of repair services
comes up from time to time - service is apparently still available out there,
although there are mixed opinions in the group as to quality/reliability of
some providers. Best to ask who has had good service from whom lately.

[RCSE] Power supply (PC)

2000-08-18 Thread Erik Wikran

Is it possible to use a computer power supply as a suply for a charger?
I have tried but I have to have a motherboard connected to it for it to
run. Is it possible to make some modifications to the supply so it can
run without the motherboards?

An AT style power supply should run fine without motherboard. With an ATX
supply I am not sure what you would need, I assume you could jumper something
to convince it there was a MB attached. Its easy enough to tell which you
have, AT style power supplys will have 2 "banks" of MB connectors, 1 row
deep. ATX has 1 connector, 2 rows deep. I am not sure at 300 watts that a
power supply would have enough juice. The Astroflight power supply is rated
at about 170 watts output.

Anyone flying this model these days? My kit is about half complete.

Are you flying on the slope, aerotowing, or what? Did you attempt a scale

How does this gull-winged beauty perform.

Also, any documention/history/info would be appreciated.

RE: [RCSE] Power supply (PC)

2000-08-18 Thread SAKABU, ROY H

If it is an AT power supply, you can make it work by putting a 5 Ohm Power
resistor rated for at least 10 Watts between +5V and GND. On an ATX power
supply, in addition to that, you should put a switch between PWR_ON# and
GND. PWR_ON# is the 4th pin from the left if you looked at the main
connector with the latching hook at the top. GND is the 3rd, 5th, 6th, and
7th pins on the top row. This must be kept closed for the P/S to work
without a motherboard.

The 5 Ohm resistor puts a 1 Amp load on the 5V output of the power supply
which must be used so that it can internally regulate its voltages.

been using this stuff for several years and love it. No, It's not good
enough for F3B or F3J but is fine for club or private winches. Buy it with
2 other buddies and share. Great Deal. No, I don't want to start a war on
