RE: [RCSE] all this chat about chargers???
While we are on the subject... I pulled a plane down to charge that I haven't flown for about two months and found that I had left the on/off switch in the on position. The battery is 1100 mah and is less that a year old. When I hooked it up to my new Litco Alpha 4 it showed an open circuit and would not charge. I plugged the dead battery up to a wall wart charger and left it on for 14 hour. The battery took a charge so I was able to cycle it with the Alpha 4 3 times. Would you trust this battery in your plane? Why couldn't I get the Alpha 4 to charge it? Thanks, Gary Baldwin Tallahassee, FL

Re: [RCSE] winch rpm
The motor I tested was a Lucus M50 with ballraces and with reduced stator clearance ... definitely 8000 revs. Eddie the Eagle --- Doug Boyd [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: The Winch Doctor told me that he got about 3500 RPM on his winch with drum the line taped up so it would not fly around. This test was made before installing "Real Balls" ball bearing end plates. AFTER the "Real Balls" installation, the RPM jumped up about 20% to just over 4100 RPM. The adjustable timing feature can get even more rpm, if that's what you want. Doug RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Re: [RCSE] AWESOME STUFF, New vacation plans
So, let me guess where Denny's vacationing this year... ;) Agreed, Paul's vids are top-notch. The "Soar Utah" video is on my to-get list. --Bill From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [RCSE] AWESOME STUFF, New vacation plans Date: Sat, 24 Mar 2001 07:16:21 EST DUDES If you have not seen Soar Utah by Radio Carbon Art, it is an absolute "must have" for anyone even remotely interested in RC soaring, great scenery, good music, or just plain relaxing after a whole lot of 16 hour days in a row. The filming is superb and the location is such that any of us from the east coast will be calling our realtors to list the house. Paul's vidios are always great but, he has out done himself this time. I am not much of a TV guy but Paul has a talent for putting together vidios that make me want to see more. The concentration of gorgeous scenery, superb airplanes and awesome flying make this film something that you don't eant to miss. [RCSE] Materials list
Hello RCSE'rs, I just put up the first version of my international EPP materials list at: www.aerofoam.com/materials.html Please let me know if it shows up ok on different browsers etc. I also just had to migrate my entire site to another server, so let me know if any problems exist! If you have trouble getting there, go to www.aerofoam.com.cnchost.com first, then take the link to the "Intl. Materials" page. If you have knowledge of other crossover materials used in modeling, let me know the details and send a picture, so I can post it. Thanks. [RCSE] Airfoil, airfoil, airfoil
With all this chat about sections, I thought I'd take a little time to chime in. 7035? MH32? 7037? 7080? 3021? Can we really feel the difference? What exactly are we feeling? What are we seeing? Daryl - what the Hell's your point? My point is, we rarely do direct comparisons when it comes to sections. And when we do, the conditions we happen to run into on our first or second flight usually dictate how we FEEL about the particular section. In other words - if we happen to pop air on one of our first flights, well, that's the best damn airplane we ever flew! What an amazing section! Did you see that? That inverted Clark Y MH-SD-RG-37 Stroke 9 just never comes down! ;-) IF, we actually take the majority of these sections I've included above for a TD model, and build indentical models utilizing them (planform, span, fuselage, stab section and size, weight, cg) - the majority of us wouldn't be able to feel the difference. Obviously there a couple that would grab our attention right off the bat - the 7037 and the 3021 would stand separately (not necessarily better, but aside). BUT - what about the other 3? It's not until we really push the envelope that we start to see the differences. This is something 99.9% of you never do. You never fly a speed run on a measured course against a watch. You never fly laps against other competitors on a measured course. This is where the subleties of these sections will really stand out. I've been 19 with a Psyko in conditions I probably would have gone 18 with an equivalently built MH32. That's only 1/4 second difference per leg guys. I went 28 laps with the same Psyko. I may have gone 30 with an MH, but I doubt it. My point is, try not to make general comments about sections that are solely based on one model. Poorly designed models have killed the popularity of VERY good sections. And, conversely, very well designed models have boosted the popularity of sections that really aren't so great. So, what's the best section? The one you won your last contest with JMHO D RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Send "subscribe" and "unsubscribe" requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: [RCSE] Fiberglass Oly II fuselage
I recall that Dream Catcher carries 'glas fuses for some of the Airtronocs line. Check at http://www.dchobby.com/ . I just went to http://www.dchobby.com/fuselages/ and did not see it listed on the fuselage page, so then I went to http://www.dchobby.com/newlines.html and it says they now own the rights to all of the older (formerly produced by Aitronics kits) except the OLY II. It says "We did not purchase the rights to the OLY II kit.". Guess that says it all.
