I must be missing something. The blue thingy is an anodised metal servo
arm and the dark spots are the holes.

Anyone know if the dark spots on the blue thingy are setscrews? Is it
possible that someone got smart enough to manufacture a thin,
 RDS-dedicated
servo to directly accept a drive shaft with the bent end that
 slips into the
 pocket?

[RCSE] Dodgson Designs !!!

2002-01-07 Thread lenci1938e

To all Dodgson Designs flyers,

Thanks to all of you that responded both on the exchange and to me
privately. There was much more correspondence than I thought there
would be. There seams to be a big interest in the Pivot. That is
good. It was the one kit I thought I would try to build first as it
is small and would have the minimum amount of startup investment. I
was thinking of trying to put together about 20 kits and see if they
would sell. I have a few things to iron out so if anything happens
it would be later in 2002.

If anyone has an unbuilt kit and would like to sell it it would be
much appreciated. I still need of of these kits to use as a
prototype. If you would weigh the fuse and canopy on a gram scale and
email the weights of the fuse that would help. At least I would have
a target weight to lay the new fuses at.

If anyone has any Dodgson kits they want to sell I very well may be
interested. I have many but am still missing some to complete the
collection of prototypes that will be used for production. Email or
call with what you have available. I could do something like buy it
from you and offer somekind of deal on a new kit when they are
produced.

Any help, old catalogs, plans, instructions (for any of Bob's kits)
that you don't mind parting with will be great. I would even like
photo copies or I can copy and mail original back to you. What ever
you can do.

Email photos of your old Dodgson planes. I'll keep and archive and
may possibly use some in future newsletters, etc.

Looking forward to hearing from all of you,

Have a great New Year,

RE: [RCSE] High start problem

2002-01-07 Thread Cottrill, Flash

First off, take the Hi-start you now have and through it into the trash or
if you think you might do some bungee launching in the future, save it, take
the rubber and double it over and do that again so you now have 4 strands
and it might be good for that.
Secondly, call Rich at Holiday designs 919-835-0199, tell him what you're
flying and he will fix you up with what you need.

 Subject: [RCSE] High start problem

Ok I will try to make this brief.

I have been flying for about a month under the watchful eyes
 of the local
flying club (Seminole Flying Club - Tallahassee)
who have been very informative and patient with me.
I have gotten my plane (a Spirit) set up trimmed balanced
 etc. and have used
their highstart many many times for launching.
they use a Heavy duty high start and I typically stretch it
 back 60 steps to
launch and have had no problems.

Then Christmas rolls around and I look in the catalog which
 says for a 2
meter plane a standard highstart is what I need and
I tell the wife I want a Dynaflight standard Highstart for
 Christmas, I know
there are 10 million brands of highstarts out there but I
had to make this easy on her or I was getting socks for christmas.

Anyway I have been out (to a different field) 2 times now to
 attempting to
use the new highstart which feels very soft compared to what
 the ones the
 guys
in the flying club own, I have pulled it back about 110 steps
 launched into
the wind (7-8 mph tops) and when I get about 60 feet up
it seems to quit gaining altitude, nose down and then will
 typically make a
weird twist and pop off of the high start.

I know the quick answer is take the high start out to the
 flying club and
have them check it out, but I have not been able
to make it out there due to schedule conflicts, rain etc.

My guesses at what I need to do -
1 my plane is too heavy for the high start and I need a heavy duty
2 move my tow hook up or back due to a weaker high start
3 try flying another field(I have not used it at the field
 where the club
flies) this one has bad juju
3 pull back the highstart 50 more steps

 Any suggestions

If we are what we eat, then I'm easy, fast, and cheap.

RE: [RCSE] Blue thingy on the 5125

2002-01-07 Thread Scobie Puchtler or Sarah Felstiner

I have a perfectly good monitor, and cannot see
what you're referring to Harley. The photo I get
to from this link:
http://www.hitecrcd.com/Newproducts/5125.htm
shows me a view of the servo from an angle that
wouldn't show set screws even if they were there,
only the arm surface that has the main mounting
screw and the holes for clevises. So I'm wondering
whether there is more than one photo, or what's
going on?

Anyone have clarification here? Are folks using
another link with another photo?

Lift,
Scobie in Seattle.

The eyes are playing tricks with your mind. That is a servo arm NOT, as your
mind is seeing it, a shaft sticking out the top of the servo with holes in
it.

I'm not sure anyone is ever going to be ?smart? enough to make a RDS
dedicated servo

Karlton,

If these servos are an imitation does that mean that the new MPX Digi are

To ad, or not to ad. That is not the question. The question is, When
are we gonna quit this crap and get on with something important? I
personally don't care one way or the other, but I'm sick and tired of all
this discussiion of ads. Maybe we should change the name of this list

As long as you have unprofessional people in this hobby, like K. Spindle,
this is the way thing will be.

It seems like he has the LSF in his pocket, Jack S. for sure.

[RCSE] Im Out of here too-BASHING

2002-01-07 Thread Gavin Botha

For more years than I care to count I have always deleted any message
hinting towards bashing or unfair attacks. While I have indulged in my
fair share of debates and disagreements I like to think they were
professional and respectful, (and only conducted with people I
respect).

I think responding in any form to these bashing threads only adds to the
negativity. So this will be the first and hopefully last time I break
tradition and respond.

As someone who has contributed R/C soraing, and actively been involved
with products, design, and sponsorship into this hobby, I know what a
thankless task it can be. The problem is the thankless originates from
those that don't have a clue. Those that understand are grateful and
thankful.

This is our hobby. Let's support those that are promoting, improving,
and contributing to make it an even better hobby. Both Karlton and
Sal have done great things for this hobby supporting major events an
sponsoring US team members. These acts have a positive trickle down
affect to the ENTIRE R/C community. The entire hobby has benefited
greatly from their (and others) generosity and involvement.

I recommend everyone ignore stupid posts and perhaps send personal
emails recommending the complainers unsubscribe, and send thanks and
praise to those who truely support our hobby.

As a serious R/C enthusiast, and hopefully a future US F3B team
representative, I am grateful to the support I have received both as a
paying customer, and as a humble, respectfull, sponsored US team
member.

Thanks Karlton, your confidence and support. It has helped inspire my
efforts to try and make it back to the F3B World Champs to try and match
the legacy of 2 other pilots you have helped - Joe and Daryl.

To those complainers, insytead of complaining, exercise your other
option and DO IT YOUSELF!!
