Re: [RCSE] LSF tied to Nats Why????
As to your comments. Muncie Indiana is NOT the east coast. Not even close. FACT is that Muncie is much closer to the east coast than even the geographic center of the US - by anyone's definition. If you live east of the Mississippi, you'd have to add between 1000 and 1500 miles onto your average trip to equal what most folks drive who live on the west side. Bob rebutted with: I live in Fond du Lac, WI, which is 20 miles south of Oshkosh, WI, the home of the EAA and the location of the annual EAA fly-in One of the things that intrigues me is that I have never once heard a person grumble about how far away Oshkosh was or how hard it was to get to, or that they wish the EAA convention were located closer to their home. I agree that if you want to go to a fly-in it doesn't matter much where it is. You just jump in the Piper Vagabond or whatever and fly to Oshkosh or Arlington WA or whichever and attend. You need only have money for fuel, cabs, motels, meals, etc. Trying to fly by commercial airline with a week's supply of planes, radios, chargers, etc is not exactly the same thing especially in this post 911 era. Did you catch the news today that airport security is being ask to fuss even more over electronics devices such as radios, cameras, chargers, etc. I grew up at an airport (Barker Air Service, Mt Vernon, WA) and have fond memories of getting up at 3AM so I could spend the morning carrying 50 lb sacks of Rotanone up a ladder to dump in a J-3 so my dad could put it on some 2 acre strawberry patch. Later in the morning I could drive the courtesy car over to a pea patch and serve as a target while someone sprayed Parithyon around. Enjoy your fly-ins but don't compare them with the Nats. The travel method is not the same. -- Dick Barker Seattle, WA - Turning HLG Around - RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Re: [RCSE] LSF elections
Rob and Larry, I think this will be a banner year for LSF and the forthcoming elections. Captain Jack and company have done a teriffic job over the last four years and the LSF membership should and will stand up to elect a new slate that will continue to energise and grow the LSF to new heights of achievment and service to the soaring community. There are several well qualified individuals that are interested in running for these positions that I am aware of and more, I am sure, that I have not heard of. The nominations list should give all of LSF good choices to select from. Captain Jack, will you make sure there is a return address on the nominations form that will allow those that may not be able to respond by computer to mail their nominations to. Those of us who can respond electronically should copy the forms and distribute them to other LSF members who don't have access to computer hookups to eliminate that issue. Also, GO MIKE, GO GAVIN, GO DARRELL, GO DARYL GO TEAM USA !!! Regards, Dave Corven.

[RCSE] Re: [GSAL] Rubber Tire Repair
I have never repaired a tire with GOOP, but just about everything else, if GOOP doesn't do it, I don't know what will. Does anyone have any recomendations for an adhesive that will allow an effective repair? By effective, I mean if it splits again it will be somewhere else. I'm thinking of GOOP, but in situations like this, it's a one-time attempt. The problems are: - the tire will have to be stretched back over the rim AFTER the repair - sitting on the rim, the gap averages 0.6 (which is huge - makes me think this the durometer of this rubber is too hard for the amount Glennis is expecting this stretched tire to remain intact - even without centrifugal loading) - I hate like hell to have to purchase a new tire for $30AMER -- *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Simon Van Leeuwen, Calgary, Alberta RADIUS SYSTEMS Cogito-Ergo-Zoom IAC25233*MAAC12835*IMAC1756*LSF5953*IMAA20209 *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* _ Help STOP SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Re: [RCSE] Rubber Tire Repair
Check out your local Underwater Dive Shop. They have a rubber glue that is used to glue Wet Suits when they get torn. Its strong and works good. They may even glue it right there for you. Its worth a try.
