[RCSE] Apology to the list

2003-11-15 Thread Frank Slaughter
I'm sorry I picked a public fight with Gordy. Nobody needs that. I'll not do it
again.

I can't say I completely regret it, because it did draw out Joe. I found his
contribution quite enlightening.

No luck so far :~{

I don't remember who said this, may be it was my mentor, Sam Crawford.

The more practice you do, the more lucky you get.

[RCSE] Australia the next day.

2003-11-15 Thread GordySoar

Gordy , you always take planes with you. What are you taking this time tochallenge the carrier rules.Let us know how you packed and made out both ways.

Hi Rich!

I'm going with success! CompFusIcon Pike Superior, bubble wrapped and shoe horned into the Sportube. Stylus, Charger and support stuff packed in my checked bag cushioned in clothes. I'll be flying with the guys in Sydney hopefully on Sunday after Thanksgivingthis trip is a work trip and I am pretty serious about work well maybe not too serious but apparently what I do keeps me soaring each week somewhere :-)

I am extremely excited about this trip as I'm going to make sure those guys know the correct direction to circle in thermals down under :-)

Wish you all could be coming along...well at least most of you :-)
I guess the best I can do is keep you posted on the Australian thermals.

Gordy :-)

Jack,

How could I have even gotten close, your flying was precision in it best sense. You outlaunched me, and while I couldn't seem to get off the ground, you found air and spec'd out that Legionaire like it had a motor in it. That Skybench Legionaire 140" made what I had seem invisible. Your plane sagged the winch, and mine, well no one could tell if I was on the line.

Impressive stuff! I just didn't show up in that class today.

Re: [RCSE] Source for sheet lead?

I wonder if lead sheeting is used in areas where X-ray operators duck behind
a screen or barrier.

Yep. A friend's dentist did a new installation and friend was able to salvage a sizable chunk of ~1/16" thick sheet lead which he was kind enough to share. Also a boxful of ~ 1"x2" pieces of lead foil which are part of those cardboard encased pieces of x-ray film with the bite tab they tell you to chomp on when they stick them in your mouth. This stuff mashes into odd-shaped spaces very nicely. Dentists typically save the lead foil for recycling (since it shouldn't be put in the regular trash). Would your dentist give it to you instead? - You can ask! Good Lift!
