Sounds like Piccolario Talk, the German variometer system - no GPS, as far as
I know! But you can use a GPS system with downlink at the same time, of
course!

Sadly, both the GPS and the Piccolario Talk info is in German!

Exactly! The only thing better in the remake is that the aircraft is designed
to look as it really was made out of bits from the Boxcar, which the better

Sadly a waste of money that film is, and the story is blander, as the wise

the model airplane designer in that version is ex-German, while everyone else
is Anglo-Saxon, and it happens just a few years after the war ...

If you have been thinking about it, now is the time to
act.

If you are using dual solenoids on your winch now the LED kit
is a must as it will tell you if one is bad.

If you are still using a single solenoid your plane is at
risk in a winch runaway.

You can get another solenoid for 20-30 dollars at NAPA or Ebay.

Kits are $9.95 shipped anywhere in USA.

They include 2 high power LED, 2 holders, 2 resistors, and 3
connectors. Assembled kits are $19.95. $1 off for each kit in
orders up to 5 kits.

See the web page:

It is finished with pictures and reports from users.

[RCSE] Cutting Mat

Hi All,
Just found a really nice building tool that I thought I'd pass on. While
at Staples looking for a flexible curve to do some design work with I
stumbled across a small self-healing cutting mat that includes a nice hobby
knife and spare blades - all for $4.95! It's made by Staedtler and can
be found by the scissors and rulers. The mat is 4 x 5 and is
ruled. Couldn't pass it up! Got one for the office and one for work. Neat!

Happy flying,

Spencer,

This is a noble goal. When we have given a demonstration at a local school,
or when kids come up to see what we are doing it's amazing what the first
question always is:

How much does it cost?

It's too bad that all the subtler aspects of the hobby are lost if the first
answer scares them away. I've also found that those who are interested find
the hobby rather than the hobby finding them. I think all of us in the
hobby have a fascination of flight in our blood.

The other day at a contest an Osprey flew over the field. They're rare
around here. Virtually everyone stopped to watch. It was the field topic
of conversation for the next 5 minutes. Like I said, it's in our blood.

I think all the educational lessons you mention are valid. I'd like to hear
how others put on demonstrations.

   Subject: [RCSE] article

   Hello all,

I am considering writing an article that would
 show how the r/c
soaring hobby could be used in schools to
 facilitate different
educational lessons in elementary and secondary
 schools while sowing
interest in r/c soaring among young people.
Some of the lessons I was thinking about concern
 science(gravity,
aerodynamics, physics, weather and geography) ,
 mathematics
   (fractions, algebra, etc) and logical
 thinking(decision-making
   processes, goals for flight).
But this is by no means a limited list.
I was wondering if you folks would like to
 contribute ideas that also
could be used in terms of educational value of
 r/c soaring.
Also, if I might be able to request interviews
 with several high-
profile soaring enthusiasts, that would help me
 out a lot.

[RCSE] hot new f3b'er

2005-02-01 Thread D Hauch
Hey guys,
Just thought I pass on some plane info.

I'm building a new Trinity XS f3b'er for Bob at www.soaringusa.com
This baby has hot-rod written all over it.
This tailboom is as stiff as a baseball bat, as are the wings.
Huge control surfaces.
Each part has it's own individual fitted padded bag.
Fit and finish is top notch.
I'll get AUW on it tomorrow.

Sure wish I could test drive this baby! :-)

Here some info on it;
