Re: [RCSE] System Three clear Coat Epoxy
Need some information from the group. Anybody have some experience (Good or bad) about using System Three Clear Coat epoxy for a laminating resin in vacuum bagging wings. System three is great stuff, my favorite epoxy, BUT, you need to make sure what you have. Some of their clear cote epoxies are meant only for clear coating, not laminating. They have one (I think water based) that is specifically for clear coating wood and it is loaded with UV protectors. These probably wouldn't work for bagging. [RCSE] System Three clear Coat Epoxy
Hi, Need some information from the group. Anybody have some experience (Good or bad) about using System Three Clear Coat epoxy for a laminating resin in vacuum bagging wings. I purchased the product several months ago from Fiberlay in Seattle, Wa. after a enthusiastic recommendation from their employee and have not had a chance to use it until now. After reading the spec. sheet, I'm now having some reservations. It's quite thin, which I like, but System Three's own web site information does not give a recommendation for vacuum bagging with this product. It may be that it's OK, but before I go spreading this on the new wing cores, I need to see where the jury stands. I'm also contacting the company tech staff tomorrow for their input and hope I'm overly concerned for nothing. Input guys? Winston in Walla Walla RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Re: [RCSE] 8103 programing problem flaps to ailerons then to crow
Yes, Use Mixer 2 as a curve (You probably have mixer 1 for spoi->elevator curve). and mix SPOI->FPRN, Play with the curve to get the effect you desire. It might look V-shaped or if you don't use the BTF mixers at all on the ailerons, then the shape of the curve would be exactly what you want the ailerons to do. Note that you can also do a SPOI-FPRN mix that gets turned on during launch and set up a V-shaped mix + one direction, - the other direction, so that you can increase differential on the ailerons on launch so they don't drop down any more when you use aileron. Yes, you should be using rudder on launch but not everyone remembers to use the other stick. RE: [RCSE] "Who's mailing in LSF Forms for level completion before the end of...
Uhhh Gordy...You better check out the requirements for witnesses of non-competitive tasks again. Appears you may have misunderstood them for the higher Levels!!! Sure would hate to see you miss your next LSF Level because of it. What you stated is correct for L1/L2...but NOT for the remaining L3-L5 non-competitive tasks. For competitive tasks, there's only 2 qualified witnesses, the CD or the Official Scorer. Here's the requirements, right off the LSF website: Section 5 - Witnesses Verification of each task of each Level requires the signature of qualified witnesses. The approved witnesses for non-competitive requirements shall be: a. Level I: One witness, over 21 years of age, who is not related to the pilot, or one witness, holding Level I status or higher, who is not related to the pilot. b. Level II: Same as for Level I. c. Level III: Two witnesses, as in Level I. d. Level IV: Same as for Level III. e. Level V: Two witnesses, each holding Level II status or higher, who are not related to the pilot. The approved witness for competitive requirements shall be either the contest Director or the Official Scorer. -Sheldon- YNT uDesign A Soaring Nationals Supporter From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, March 08, 2005 11:29 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; soaring@airage.com Subject: [RCSE] "Who's mailing in LSF Forms for level completion before the end of... RE: [RCSE] Carbon Pushrod Help!
I always use THICK FLEXABLE CA GLUE like IC 2000. Cut the end of the carbon rod off with diagonal cutters. This crushes and splinters the end a little and helps the glue grab on to the rod. Then I clean up the inside of the brass with a small file. Use plenty of glue so some glue forms a fillet at the end of the metal fitting. When I want to reuse the metal fittings from an old model I heat up the metal with a soldering iron and the fitting will pull lose. Gordy: I am aware of the qualifications of a witness. The most difficult part is that they have to be "present" to be a witness. Especially, when out to do landings, I have to make an "appointment" with a witness. I fly mostly during the week while most of the "witnesses" are at work. Sailplane flying at the power field on the weekend equates to "not much flying". Keep in mind that there are no other sailplane flyers out here in my part of MS.
