[RCSE] UPDATE .. Ladder task rules for Woodys or any type of construction .. UPDATE

2006-10-18 Thread Ray Hayes
Optional Fly Off

Some other clubs have contacted me about the Ladder and I'm suggesting they
make the decision to include the fly off or just fly till they drop. Every
Ladder, fly off or no fly off, should have a cut off time of coarse. The
fly off could also be set up as a class by itself with in the contest.

Example:

give the entrant the option of competing in the Ladder with out a fly off or
the Ladder with the fly off. Everyone is on their own ch, so the fly off
could be taking place while the other class is still flying.

There will be some pilots like my self that want that extra level of
competition.

Rules:
_

One entry per frequency

3 minute Ladder Task

flight steps are consecutive, not random

unlimited number of attempts

Pilots self time their flights and record each flight on the provided score
card before attempting another flight.
Accuracy of flight time over the task time is not important because of the
fly off rounds.

Pilot's goal is qualifying for two Fly Off rounds

CD announces time to end qualifying flights during pilots meeting to allow
time for the two Fly Off rounds

Fly off qualification: CD determines number of top flyers that can qualify
for fly off rounds based on number of entrants. Example: Contest with 5
entrants could be set up to allow the top 3 pilot's scores qualify for the
two Fly Off rounds. A contest with 20 contestants could be set up for 6 top
pilot's to qualify.

If a qualifying contestant can not or chooses not to fly in the Fly Off
rounds, the next best scoring pilot can take his place in the Fly Off.

Fly Off tasks: ___

two rounds ... each in a 20 minute window ... of two flights each round:

First Round :

One 2 minute AMA precision duration task and one 6 minute AMA precision
duration task. 25 ft. 100 point landing tape.

Pilot calls the flight task (2 m or 6 m) during the first minute after
launch release when flight time begins.
Flight receives a Zero score if pilot does not clearly inform his timer
during the first minute of flight which task time he has chosen.

Second Round :

One 2 minute AMA precision duration task and one 10 minute AMA precision
duration task. 25 ft. 100 point landing tape.

Pilot calls the flight task (2 m or 10 m) during the first minute after
launch release when flight time begins.
Flight receives a Zero score if pilot does not clearly inform his timer
during the first minute of flight which task time he has chosen.

_

This contest is very easy to administer, provides a lot of flight time and
ends with an exciting Fly Off. This event can be used in monthly club
contests to attract a larger number of entrants as well as club sanctioned
contests.

Re: [RCSE] carbon uni web

2006-10-18 Thread matt
The light weight uni web carbon in not available. The manufacturer can not
get the light weight tow needed to make this product. The lightest weight
they can make is a 4.7 oz and beause the tows are much larger there will be
some gaps in the material. We are also getting in some 4.8 oz tht has a
glass cross thread the carbon is a IM7 fiber so it is stronger and stiffer
than standard carbon fiber. This is a one time run and only a limited
quantity will be available at a reduced price.

[RCSE] Stopwatch Listings

2006-10-18 Thread David Register

Just FYI, best comparative listing of stopwatches I've found is:
http://www.stopwatchcentral.com/index.html

The ones often used for soaring are all there (Seiko S321, Robic SC707,
Accusplit A625) along with many others - including Brian's printer
supplied Seiko. Nice place to compare features. For lap/split models,
info is not provided for freeze times but Seiko is typically 20s, Robic
~15s and Sportline ~5s.

[RCSE] JR 9303 rubber duckie antenna

2006-10-18 Thread ownee77
A friend wants to buy a particular type rubber duckie antenna for his JR
9303. I bought one for mine but forgot who I bought it from.
I know the antenna is sold for the Stylus transmitter. The antenna does not
have a quick disconnect. You have to unscrew the antenna from the
transmitter. I bought the base loaded antenna adaptor (Don't by the base
loaded antenna. Horizon will sell the adaptor without the antenna) from
Horizon and it screws into the radio after you take the back off of the
transmitter. Once the adapter is in the transmitter, the rubber duckie
screws into the transmitter and it is a perfect fit.

Who sells this antenna now?
Thanks !

The Seiko S321 and Robic SC707 are also sold by F3X .com at almost the same
prices as Dave's link in case you wanted to suport a soaring supplier.

Re: [RCSE] Stopwatch Listings

2006-10-18 Thread Paul Emerson

That is where I got my Robic SC-707 - $34.95 to my door with the free shipping.
Even the Robic SC-500e looks nice at $15.95 (start stop reset only).

I like the SC-707 a lot, good for all types of flying, heat resistant
- cheapo stopwatches don't last in AZ.

[RCSE] JR DS 368 BB Servo Arms

2006-10-18 Thread Bob Johnson

I am in need of a longer arm than the ones that are supplied
with the DS 368 servo. A check of the Horizon web site reveals a large number
of servo arms; unfortunately they do not tell which servos they fit.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone could provide me
with the brand and part number of a longer arm for the JR DS 368 BB servo.

Thanks,

[RCSE] Weekend Bash

2006-10-18 Thread Bob Johnson

Gentlemen! There will be a
BASH this weekend. Both Saturday and Sunday!

We'll be camping ON SITE.

So if you want to tear it
up with other combat pilots, come out to Banos.

Bring your foamies and
anything else.

I expect to arrive around
2:00 Saturday depending on traffic.

We're hoping even the
infamous FATLION will be able to attend. If he's in the country...

Bring your full quiver, the
weather at Banos is hard to predict this time of year!

Bob, The 368s use a standard JR output shaft size.
Almost any JR arm will work.

Let me know what length you need. I usually have
them in stock

[RCSE] combo meet: Electric/slope

2006-10-18 Thread WSnowfall

Brent

Polecat also has a one design plane. We will have at least 6 fun 1 and
several LEG 1 designs by next year.

We can cover NW, NE, N from two sites on the Lake and a site 20 minutes
south from downtown, S to SW. This is redundant with Malvern which is a 200 ft
bowl about 90 minutes south. So we could move to different fields depending on
the wind.

No one here fly's winch, high start stuff. BUT we could have a 2m and
unlimited electric soaringcontest as a back up event if the wind
sucks. It takes no effort to put one together on short notice.

In this way we can fly at least and justify the drive. Any thoughts?

Bill

[RCSE] video - cleveland slopes

2006-10-18 Thread WSnowfall

Hi

http://www.knowlaunch.com/hiddendownload.htm

There are three video of interest. Edgewater Onboard is a video camera
taped to fuse. its a choppy but gives a feel for the slope from a birds
eye.

Edgewater with a date label really shows the site. one segment is in
15 - 20 mile winds with five wings up. the other segment is of a Wing Warrior is
5- 8 light lift. In the background is Browns Stadium and the City.

The third one is labeled Transportation Drive,. the power lines are
down at the bottom and far away so they are a non factor. We have a whole
parking lot to land in and lights for night!

With the wind and surf kicking up it feels a little like California.
sure
