[RCSE] Paging Taylor Collins - again

2006-10-22 Thread Neil Gillies

Hi Taylor

Them thar pesky injuns are at it again - comcast still bouncing all
mail from any of my (3) completely separate accounts.

Obviously the RCSE list emails are getting through as I received your
reply to it.

Is there another email address I can send the files to - hotmail
would even be an option (even though I run a Mac :-)) ?

My sincere apologies to the list for taking up this bandwidth - all
in the good cause of committing aviation.

Best regards

Neil

I suggest you try Rotor Hobbies in Singapore. They have everything the
the US shops have and more, and with competative prices.

[RCSE] Re: Soaring V1 #8476

2006-10-22 Thread Ed Anderson
Ryan,

This is a most interesting comment. If you can make a radio do this I would
love to know how. I have seen the ability to address both flaps
independently as a key divider between radio classes.

Radios like the Hitec Optic 6, Futaba 7C, the JR 6102 and now the JR 7202
and the DX7 are highly capable radios that do now support a 4 servo wing.
If that can be overcome via some mix process I would really like to know how
to do it. Then you could trim them independently AND have the flaps follow
the ailerons for lower drag roll input.

I help a lot of new flyers and this would be very useful in setting up their
planes.

Ed,

I would not go that far. I read through the DX7 manual, and it has
6 free mixes. With free mixes you can do things like manually
setup dual flaps or manually setup aileron to flap mixing. Granted,
it might not be as functional from a contest glider perspective as
something like the 9303, but I suspect you could run a 6 servo glider
using this transmitter.

[RCSE] Hitec Eclipse???

2006-10-22 Thread Ron Russell
Hi all, a friend of mine has 2 of these radios and has posed a question
about the sets to me, I can't help solve it though.
Basically the Tx's have 2 rotary pots that adjust the flap throws,
together( both up or down) and separately ( one up and one down). Both
are situated on the top of the Tx, one on each side of the aerial
mounting plastic thingummy.
Now forgive for thinking this is a kinda stupid option to put on a Tx
unless you can adjust the throws or simply switch them off.
I am not that familiar with the sets so if any you knowledgeable bunch
can tell me how to sort out these functions I will be delighted to pass
the info on.
It would be nice to adjust the (flaps together) rotary to give a small
percentage of their throw so that the pilot could set the Tx to have
launch flap option on the rotary. The other one we can switch off
completely.

If this does not make sense to an Eclipse expert please get back to me
for more in depth details from this end, thanks.

[RCSE] Winch Solenoids

2006-10-22 Thread George Meyers
Our club had a fly fly/annual picnic yesterday. We had installed dual
solenoids on our winches and one of the winches failed with almost
disastrous results. Both solenoids shorted out at the same time. The only
thing that saved us was our cutoff switch. I always thought the odds of
both solenoids failing at the time was very high, it's not, this was the
first time we used the winch. We used Cole Hersee 24059 solenoids. I
communicated with Tim McCann and will replace the solenoids with the Cole
Hersee 24037 solenoids he recommends. Tim says that the 24059s are rated at
84 amps while the 24037 is rated at 750 amps.

[RCSE] Espada R Question

2006-10-22 Thread Pat McCleave

Hi Guys,

The Espada R comes with a coated stainless steel antenna wire (cable) that
is routed out the top of the fin. Does anyone know where you can get
something like this? It appears to be about .014 diameter and has a plastic
coating. I would like to get some of this stuff to use in carbon/kevlar
fuselages.

See Ya,

Pat
