Re: [RCSE] My Dad,... U'R Dad?
Hey Craig thanks for sharing this. Having just lost my mother, father and sister witin a very short period I can echo your thoughts. One day they will be gone and you may have some fond memories like this one to relive. [RCSE] My Dad,... U'R Dad?
I just wanted to share this with everyone... My Mother called me last week and told me she was worried about my Dad and his health... He's 85, Fought in the battle of Britten at age 17 and was a B-24 pilot once America joined the war... He has trouble breathing now because he was a 50 year smoker..Its touch and go with him... Never knowing if this is the day. So I took over to their house my latest Electric tow plane to put together A Stinger 120 ARF using a 5340AXIS and A123 batteries.. Thanks Brian Chan :-)))... He loved it... You never know with my Dad.. I was so worried he would think it was a piece of crap.. But it has made him so happy to be a part of helping me put it together... Its almost done and I can't wait to fly it for him So all of you with aging parents... All I can say is is try and make them happy and just maybe.. You will find happiness yourself and some wonderful memories too :-))) Craig ..

[RCSE] "SWC Registration Closed! Wait and Wail!"
Yes I won. About 8 raffle prizes, for the $20 I bought in tickets.? Shirts, a plane, some Greening servo mounts, some Serengetti sunglasses, some free Vinyl wing letterings, and some other stuff like a JR Spectrum Radio set. I did pretty much everything I could to make room at the top of RES and Open class by teasing the guys with precision landing approaches, hovering over the hot spot, then at the last minute directing the models just outside the lines.? Drove them nuts knowing I could have taken it? :-) I went to the SWC with a personal goal of getting a Woodie...I mean sure I went to bed with one and woke up with one, and had it ready all day too.? I really never had a woodie in my entire soaring career, going from power straight to unlimited planes. So after all the work those two guys went to get me a woodie, and again never having had one before... I went with a special purpose to this SWC!? I wanted to leave with woodie wood!!! At the end of the first day I had about a 50 point lead, I never missed a time and averaged +/- 3 seconds across the board in all the classes I flew this weekend, but it was that woodie that kept me from being able to focus on the other class landings. So yes I took wood with my woodie (Marauder...awesome ship by the way) YIPES that German took second place in Open!? Jason George used is landing judge connections to kill everyone in that class.? Mike Smith and Cody had a hi start fly off for 3/4 spots in unlimited.? Mike edged him by a point or two on the landing. DP and Larry were in the bunch, and... the rest of the story will be posted :-) Louisville or bust in the morning The weather today was the nicest I have ever experienced in all my soaring travels.? Not hot, almost no wind.? Definitely a really fun event. Gordy Tired in Arizona More new features than ever. Check out the new AOL Mail ! - http://webmail.aol.com
RE: [RCSE] Laser cut foam cutting templates
I just received a set of cores from Lazlo and I agree, he produces excellent cores, and at a reasonable price... Just call him and explain what you need. He is a great guy. Top quality product. Good Guy recommendation.!!! Tom RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Re: [RCSE] Laser cut foam cutting templates
Anker, I have found the best thing is to just call Lazlo Horvath and give him the details of my wing and about a week later I get a set of cores that are always perfect. I found that at the price he charges it barely cost more than cutting my own after I accounted for wasted foam from mistakes here and there and my best cores never even compared to his. Just my two cents on the matter. Re: [RCSE] Laser cut foam cutting templates
Back a few years ago while I was cutting cores I found that paperless phenolic was the best template material that I could lay my hand on. The paper phenolic always left a very small amount of paper residue that no amount of sanding or polishing would completely get rid of. The result was an occasional catch of my cutting wire and a less than perfect surface. Other template materials like formica were harder to cut and sometimes too thin and harder able to keep flat on the foam blocks without a lot of T pins. You still have to sand and polish the burn area. I found CNC cut ones out of .030" to .0625" paper phenolic were the best.
