[RCSE] Re: 3.45 Graphite, 2.4ghz AR900 receiver lots of Anxiety.

2008-02-21 Thread SteveR

Brad, I fly a molded 3 meter Graphite with a regular 72MHZ setup and the
carbon/kevlar fuse totally soaks up TX signals. I have to run my RX
antenna outside the fuse with the end taped to a v-tail. If the antenna
is outside the fuse but anywhere near it, signal strength is very poor.

I only imagine that things are that much worse with a 2.4 setup. Any
chance you can relocate the RX and its antennas to the wing center
section, asssuming there's little or no carbon in it? I think the key is
gettint the antennas away from the carbon/kevlar weave.

2008-02-21 Thread macuser

Google Earth has a flight simulator hiding under their program. I don't
have the info. handy but just do a Google search on it. Of course it's
not going to be an RC simulator but you might find it fun and free if
you just wanted to do some fun flying.

2008-02-21 Thread SteveR

FYI: there's a cover letter in each packet sent to AMA clubs that
provides venue details but clearly all the individual flyers should have
also included this info. Here is a link to the Westchester County Center
that provides directions:

http://www.countycenter.biz/Directions.htm

FYI: the show runs next Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 2/23-24. There
will be a bunch of new exhibitors this year including Horizon Hobbies.
I'm sure we'll see plenty of 2.4 GHZ systems on display from both
Horizon and Futaba (Great Planes). I'm told there will be some spectular
new (and huge) models in the static display and of course the swap shop
is always a hot bed of activity.

You all come early and stay late!

Regards,

Steve

[RCSE] Sailaire Kit Request

2008-02-21 Thread Dave Babb
Good Afternoon folks.

I am looking for a DCH Sailaire kit. I have one I am supposed to build for a
friend of mine, but I've had a series of small strokes and need to replace
his kit with another one.

I am wishing to retain his original kit as therapy for my small motor
control. Doc says it'll be six months before things are better.

This kit was supposed to be completed in November/December, but that was
when my series of small strokes began.

Please provide me an email if you have such a kit and are willing to sell to
me.

If you have this bird in new OR ARF form that you just didn't get around to
putting a radio in it, that would be even better for my friend.

If you have pointers to where I can purchase this kit online from some
vintage store, that would also be appreciated.

Sincerely and Respectfully,

Dave Babb
