[RCSE] Re: Hinge Tape - bullet proof

2008-03-27 Thread GordySoar
I'm sure that tape is great stuff, but is Don Bullet proof? I think the
poster was asking for a bullet proof manufacturer :-)

Phil

I survived a bullet to the chest and have always used Don's hinge
tapemaybe I should have tried using it as protecting against that
bulletin any
case it doesn't stretch, doesn't come undone and is very thin...the tape not
the bullet...although I guess it would qualify for two out three.

[RCSE] Wanted - Prism Nose Cone (Non-Skeg Version)

2008-03-27 Thread Blayne Chastain

Hey folks...

A little while back I put out a wanted ad here for a Prism nose cone.
I was able to obtain the skegified version but I still need the
"standard" one without the skeg... Any chance there might be one out
there that one of ye could part with???

Cheers,

As most on the list know, the tape is very good and has been used for
many years by hundreds of modelers.

Bullet proof? perhaps not, but a moving target is hard to hit. Off to
Florida Saturday morning.

Burt,

I used to work for a company that was associated with tapes.

Try http://www.azcoat.com

I have used some sample polyester films on my F3B (small) ship a while
back, and on my Current DLG hinges.

It is polyester, fairly thin, clear. I have not been disappointed. If
they won't give you a sample, ping me and I'll send a sample as I have
alot.

You can then ask then for a quote.

[RCSE] Re: Flap flutter and servos for Pike Perfect Flaps

2008-03-27 Thread trend.ab

Allan

I was able to stiffen my flaps on the perfect very considerably by just
connecting the rear upper end of the servo to the wingskin. Now the
servo is glued to the upper wingskin, and it is also connected with a
piece of prepreg carbon to the lower wingskin in the direction of the
pushrod.

I am using 368s and did not get any flutter so far.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the detailed reply about your travels, I seldom find anyone
who travels with sailplanes internationally, so its great to get another
perspective!

I've gotten close to Hanna's slope but never had weather. I have seen
plenty of photos though and it does seem to be the number one spot in
the world for rc soaring opportunities.

Feel free to post some photos!

Got to give you credit traveling with a kid, wife and stuff :-).

I suspect it's an off the shelf product. But I've not found it anywhere
else. I can't find his email but Don is on this list. Perhaps he'll contact
you.

CLEAR vinyl tape works very well - at CVS, ACE and office supply stores. Or
this stuff is great also:

Since the flying season is here for most of us, I just thought I let the

of you know all this already, but its still good reading as a reminder.
Excellent info.
