[RCSE] DS speeds

While I was doing the filming with his camera and with Dieter Mahlein of
Shredair on the radar gun, Paul Naton hit 173 mph at a place just up from
Kiona Butte this past summer. There were several other passes right around
170 mph. The conditions were only medium and Paul could have gone faster had
he pushed harder according to the DS maniacs in attendance. I'm sure that
much higher speeds are attainable if the bio-computer can handle them.

We were at the bottom of the DS circle where the sounds were absolutely
incredible. The description of "shredding air" is the best I can think of.
Did I mention that it was terrifying to have a plane going 173 mph pointed
at you?

Those of you at Wilson will hear Miss Piggy squealing from a mile away, so
getting out of the way of the "razor strip" leading edge should be no
problem. Hopefully Gordy won't hit his other foot with the "razor strip"
while sitting in the wheel chair.

[RCSE] 50 MHz.

I'm looking for a fairly inexpensive receiver on 50 MHz. It only needs to be
4 channel. So far my search has been unsuccessful. Who makes one and who
sells one?

Thanks in advance.

The Airtronics Stylus. It works great with any main FM brand receiver. The
no longer produced Airtronics Vision also does.

Re: [RCSE] test flying a new Molded Planes/Czech Republic

2000-01-10 Thread Bobbi and Randy

I guess this proves that not all Czech planes are created equal. Some are
very good and some are not so good. I have a Czech plane too. My Hades has
so far lived through lots of balistic dives, hitting the vertical enbankment
head on at Cape Blanco (don't ask) and landing in a bunch of rocks in a
later flight. The only damage from all this is a few very small dents from
the rocks.

I am very please with this Czech plane. I would also buy a Czech plane from
Dieter and Marcella of Shredair because I know I can trust them to only sell
quality planes that they stand behind. I also know that Tom Copp is carrying
the Hades and some other cool planes that are rated well.

Will I buy another Czech plane? As soon as I can afford it.

Re: [RCSE] NiCad Battery Problem

1999-12-31 Thread Bobbi and Randy

Ok. Now you've gone and done it. I had my mind all made up to get a Sirius.
Now it looks like it might be better to get an Astro.

I have a question though. I now have a TRC Impulse 2D XR. It works ok except
that I have had several occasions where batteries charged by it developed
memory. Like a 1100mah pack that would only hold 165mah. In all cases I have
been able go get the battery back to normal again by cycling it several
times. By cycling I mean discharging and trickle charging with another
charger.

However, I would like to avoid this. Does the Astro tend to cause memory
problems if you fast charge receiver and transmitter packs? Is this just the
nature of fast charging or do some fast chargers like the Astro and the
Sirius avoid this memory problem?

Thanks in advance,

Randy Bullard

Re: [RCSE] Slope Racing Plane Opinions..Vindicator

1999-10-13 Thread Bobbi and Randy

Why should it be the nature of the hobby? Every other hobby that I have ever
participated in people expected good service. Why shouldn't we? It is a
hobby so I expect it to be fun. When you have to worry about ever getting
your money or plane for over a year it stops being fun and becomes painful.
There are a LOT of other planes that are fun to fly that will be delivered
in a reasonable period of time, so why put up with the crap from a person
that doesn't deliver what he promises?

I don't know that you "need" any plane. However, the only reason that
someone would not want a molded plane is because they have never flown one.
Nothing else flys or sounds like a well made molded plane.

[RCSE] Great report

I just read Paul Naton's Speed Trials report on the Volz web site. Great
report Paul! Thanks! It brings back wonderful memories of the fantastic time
I had there and gives a very interesting perspective from a contestant's

the other cool people there.

The report is at: http://www.volz.com and under "news".

If S&E Modeler holds this event again next year, I will be there. Oh yea.
And with more planes.
