[RCSE] Covering Material?

2007-11-07 Thread DANIEL FINK
Looking for the transparent material being used on the PhotonII DLG. Most
likely the same as on the new RES Ships Like to find transparent purple, but
I'll take what I can find. Does any body know the trade name or where it is
being sold? Hopefully in Orange County. Just trying to fix a repair.

Thanks

[RCSE] Passing of Steve Addis

2006-10-17 Thread DANIEL FINK

It is my sad duty to inform all that Steve Addis, long time Southern
California modeler and R/C soaring pilot, passed away this afternoon October 17,
2006, after a long illness. He was an enthusiastic modeler and contest
flier and was CD forthe f3b finals at the Soaring Union of Los
Angelus. He was a fixture at many So Cal contests from San Diego to
Visalia for nearly 20 years. All who knew him, will miss him.

Rest in Peace, Steve, God Bless.

I have no other info at this time. I will pass on any information as
I get it.

A couple of comments on the woodie/moldie thread:

 1) Thanks to the organizers for proposing this event. It should be great
no matter what aircraft are flown. Really looking forward to this one.

 2) I think when we talk about woodies or moldies we're may also be
differentiating by performance types and not exclusively by material
types. Differentiating by materials is an obvious way to do it at the
sign-in desk. But in the air, what's really the difference? Woodies tend
to be lower wing loading, minimum sink floaters while moldies tend to
higher loadings with camber changing ability to hunt and then core well.
Neither is 'better' in an absolute sense. They both reflect a flying
 style preference and that's great.

I'm also reminded that Muncie can have days of very spotty light lift.
And I'm painfully reminded (frequently) that on those kind of days,
planes like AVAs and Bubble Dancers leave a lot of us moldie guys in the
 dust.

Go for it, woodies. Nothing in the rules says they're not capable of
beating anyone if the conditions are right.

[RCSE] vision question (the radio)

2004-09-27 Thread DANIEL FINK

Maybe one of you vision radio experts can help with this one.
6 servo set up in a Hera. on both sides of the Vee, when elevator
dual rate is enabled, both control surfaces do a down elevator move.
when switched to full rate, the surfaces go back to neutral trim. The
only mix is flap to elevator. when that is taken out
surfaces still move when dual rate is enabled. aileron dual rate has
no effect on the tail surfaces, just the elevator dual rate.

Thought I had seen it all. This ones new to me.

RX is a 7 channel airtronics blue cube ppm.
