Re: [RCSE] Braided nylon VS mono filament

2002-02-27 Thread Klaus K Weiss

Gordon.
we only use mono, 'down under.' It is lighter for the model to
lift, on launch, and also stretches a little to allow a 'ping' at the end.
I also find that if the high start line falls into scrub, it is less likely
to tangle, with the mono. We also use mono, pretty well exclusively, on our
winches. No retrievers here, except for the two legged variety. Winches
only wind in line on launch, as they are fitted with one way sprag bearings
or free wheeling bicycle hubbs, which are locked, on launch. Go with the
mono, in my opinion.

 Hey Randy.
I believe you!!! I have read lots of 'knowlegable'
replies from list members and on further questioning, find that they
themselves are 'newbies' and in some instances have not even flown
sailplanes. they get their answers from improvising on others replies.

 There

Thanks to all who contributed on subject. I appreciate it.

I gathered suggestions like metal fasterer, hot glue, silicone, goop and
formic acid. I am particular interest to the latter and would want to try
 it out.

Not singling you out Charlie, but yours was the first on the list: I am
continually amazed at the suggestion that a particular model is the cause
for a win at a contest. It has the help of a pilot to achieve that status.
Clean, efficient, purpose designed models sure go a long way to help in this
regard.
Lots of guys post contest winning models for sale on this forum. That
contest winning status evaporates when they are flown by the average pilot.

I know for a fact that if the Fish and Game ever got wind of this stupid
act. That they would shut your glider site down for the entire Redtail
 breeding season.

And yes I agree with everyone else that the birds were here first and we
 need to respect that.

Re: [RCSE] Vaccum Systems

1999-10-15 Thread Klaus K Weiss

When I paid a visit to Calif. earlier this year, Del Brengman went out of
his way to help me with the purchase of a vac pump and associated
equipment. He took me to an 'Alladins Cave' of engineering equipment, where
they sold quality, used Gast pumps, amongst a multitude of other gear.
Del, has of course, designed an excellent hot wire cutting system and vac
bag system, of which the details are available on a number of web pages,
including the highly informative Charles River RC web page. Del will also
sell (or used to) refurbished pumps. In any case, he can be contacted
through rcse, for any interested persons.

well as parts for the pressure switch and all the other stuff. I am a

work better than Aquarium pumps and you do not have to do any mods.

Good Luck. and check out all my other molding pages.
