John Derstine wrote lots of great stuff, including: Reader exchanges such as this one are constant ebb and flow of conversational one upmansship most of the time. Few words of wisdom filter through, and when they do, they are not recognized much of the time. Everyone one is now a google expert. I have my own theories on the Post Modernism trend and how it affects everything we do in today's world. I see it in schools where students no longer read, they scan for tidbits of useful information. They do not synthesize, and internalize, so much as regurgitate facts. Facts gleaned from search engines, and snippets of articles cut and pasted. Bravo! What a brilliant post, with deep insights on R/C, the Internet, and society as a whole. RE: [RCSE] Two meter gliders
I calculate your model's wing area is 7.2 sq ft with an aspect ratio of only 6. Are you sure of the wing area? Big span and low wing loading mean low induced drag, but all that wetted area (if correct) will increase the profile drag. IMO for pure gliders (rather than electric ones) weight isn't important, wing loading is. Reason for asking - my LAR 2M will come in at 5 oz/ft^2 at 36 oz. 21 oz. will be unobtainable. Airfoil is the AG36 thinned to 90%. Thanks. RVC -- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
