[RCSE] Re: new Bird of Time and turbulence
I went out this past weekend to fly my shiny-new BoT, all-up weight 42 ounces. I think that's the lightest-loaded sailplane I've ever built. Moderately lumpy day, 10 knots, unsteady velocity and direction. Airplane behaved unusually, exhibited behavior I've not encountered, it flew along, interspersing steady states with pitch-down bumps and recovery. Gusty days I've seen bounce noses up when a gust comes with the prevailing wind, so that momemtarily the airplane sees more airspeed, but bumps 'down', and lots of them, are new to me.Any thoughts as to whether I saw weather-induced bumps or receiver (FMA Extreme 5) glitching )? Yes, the range check seemed all right, and I had good control during the flight. Thanks, folks.
[RCSE] WTB: Astro 035 DD motor
Folks, I'm asking aroundI'm trying to obtain a direct-drive Astro 035 motor. These were sometimes used in 'lmr' events, perhaps someone's come back from the dark side and has a motor to spare Please e-mail me with any replies. Thanks very much.
[RCSE] Re: Mark's Models Bird of Time
I've finally gotten around to starting this projectIf anyone has any experience with building one and avoiding kit-based problems, I'd be grateful for a heads-up message. So far, I think I found that the elevator construction flow needs serious thought before doing things the hard way, and I don't know what else lurks in the kit box. Thanks, folks.
[RCSE] Re: CHUCK ANDERSON'S MODEL DESIGN 8
Folks, I have mislaid Chuck Anderson's e-mail address. I want to replace my lostcopy of the instruction manual for Chuck's design software which I originally received with the program disks. Can someone please contact me personally? Much obliged.
[RCSE] Re: wing rod - - ejector pins
I noticed a comment about ejector pins being used as wingrods. I made up a bunch of them, they're inexpensive, beautifully finished, and don't want to bend. They will certainly break. Want to see the one I broke in half during a 'dramatic arrival' with my quasoar? I keep the pieces around as a conversation-starter. And the wings were unmarked. The rod just didn't want to know about bending. But ejector pins are inexpensive and will certainly take any airloads I can give them.
[RCSE] FS: NIB Major Hobbies Mystery Ship kit
I bought this when they were first announced, and I don't know when I will build it. Untouched complete original kit. Time to put it up for adoption. $160 postpaid. Please respond with direct e-mail (I subscribe to the digest, response that way might take a while). Many thanks. RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. [RCSE] AIRTRONICS VISION 8SP PROGRAMMING REFERENCE?
A double-ended question, has anyone ever published an aftermarket programming/reference manual for this transmitter, and if so does anyone on the list have a spare one that I might purchase? I'd like to get as much pleasure and utility out of my new (to me) toy. Many thanks. Peter Havriluk RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. [RCSE] Polyurethane glue
I started using Elmer's Pro-Bond polyurethane glue in vacuum-bag wing skinning experiments last year, and my not-very-scientific conclusions are that the results are comparable to what I achieved with epoxy, so long as I worked fast and got the skins on the cores and everything in the bag within 10 minutes of starting to spread glue on the skins. The whole job was much less fussy to do, as there is no adhesive-preparation step, just squeeze the bottle and set to spreading the stuff on the skins. Anytime I set any lumber into a foam wing, like spars or landing gear bits for powered models, the glue stands out for its gapfilling ability and light weight. It's difficult to do precise slots and cutouts in foam, and the glue compensates for that very nicely without adding much weight in situations where epoxy would add a whole bunch of weight. [RCSE] ejector pins
I have purchased a bunch of ejector pins from National Tool Manufacturing - - very nice folks to deal with. They have an extensive array of available diameters and lengths. Site is www.ntm.com. [RCSE] RES models
I've been following the recent discussions about suitable RES models. What's wrong with dusting off that old Off-the-Ground/Ace Quasoar and building that up as-originally-designed polyhedral, but with spoilers instead of flaps? [RCSE] Towhook vendor
Sometime within the past week I saw a mention here of a vendor who sold adjustable towhooks that depended on the hook threading into an elongated machined block, the whole assembly sliding in a slot in the fuselage bottom. It's now lost to the elecronic wastebasket. Can anyone help? Many thanks! Peter Havriluk RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. [RCSE] Airtronics Vision V8P upgrade to V8SP?
Does anyone know of a vendor who offers an upgrade to a 'standard' Vision transmitter into a 'SP' (sailplane ) configuration? Thanks. RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Send subscribe and unsubscribe requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
