Re: [RCSE] Radio Shack 1000mah NiCads

2000-02-16 Thread RH1037

Also, another question about these batteries.I have them in a square
Radio Shack batt holder, the one with the spring connections, and with a
clip on 9v wire out. Is there any reason why this arrangement, with tape
would be no good for our uses? Kind of neat to use off the shelf stuff like
this at about $12 / 1000mah pack if it is possible.

[RCSE] Fwd: [RCSE]Radio Shack 1000mah NiCads

2000-02-16 Thread RH1037

I just got some 1000 mah NiCads from Radio Shack, and started charging at
home using my 110D, at 1A. noticed that by about 270mah, they were getting
warm and the voltage was up to about 7.3v. So now I'm charging at .2A.
Wondering is there something about these that makes it imperative that you
slow charge them?

Re: [RCSE] feather receiver in zagi question?

2000-02-10 Thread RH1037

Why worry about range with the Feather? Seems everybody agrees that the range
is sort of 500-700 ft. I have an FMA Fortress micro FM, 8 channels, mine is
on ch45. Weighs only 0.6 oz ( so maybe 9 gm more than the feather...will that
matter in practical terms?), and has been glitch and worry free for me so far
(knock on Obechi!) Cost is nice too, about $59-$69, can't remember which.

When using A/R mixing, can you still use rudder independently?
also I have a futaba 6 xa, not with specific sailplane programsbut
programmable...for example if I wanted "Crow" for landing, would it still be
possible? during crow, how are ailerons functioning? Are they full up and
flaps full down, and are you controlling yaw and roll with rudder alone?

[RCSE] NiCad Battery Problem

1999-12-30 Thread RH1037

Can someone give me a quick answer? It's a warm day and I want to fly, not
crash! For some reason after leaving my 225 mah battery in my fiberglass
fuse, disconnected from rx and servos, this am it was totally discharged
after being charged last night. Can't imagine how this happened...does
fiberglass conduct? I had lead weights in the nose, but they were not
touching as far as I can tell. The problem is, it doesn't seem to charge on
my Astro 110D, and keeps false peaking after 10 or 15 mah. Seems to charge
better at .2mah than .4 ie false peaks faster on .4, where before 0.4 used to
do fine. What happened?

Re: [RCSE] Cutting Dihedrals

I am a newbie, never worked with composite wings, and have to cut, sand and
join panels for the Corn Dogger. right now staring, but not doing, don't want
to screw them up. This may sound stupid, but what tool do I use? Can I use a
#11 blade? Razor saw? Well placed Karate chop? Will regular 5 min epoxy be ok
for gluing? Will I need micro spheres on hand? The wing is so thin (7.4%),
will it be strong enough? Can it take a hi start without folding? ( I
know...its an HLG).
Thanks,
