Re: [RCSE] The First Synthesized TX Module

2006-02-21 Thread Walter Carter
Also don't forget EK which I understood to have the first proportional
system with their Logictrol unit, late 70's I think. That must be
erroneous though since, according to Bill, Pro-Line already had dual rate in
the mid-70's.

Historians please comment.

Lead can be melted in a small iron skillet on any stove. The one I use has
curved lip for pouring. Cheap and efficient. Others may suggest mold design.

2005-04-11 Thread Walter Carter
Hi Gordy,
I'm flying an Eraser with Stylus. Like both. I'm still in the process of
dialing in the Eraser, Stylus and myself.

BTW, servo pockets on the eraser are deep enough that thicknes is not a
critical parameter.

That's a great picture and thanks for your comments.

I think digitals put higher peak load on battery which might cause
glitches
on supply depending on power cabling size, length etc. I'll search for
 information.

If anyone has any data on digital/analog mixing failure (or success)
please
 reply. TIA.

 Hi Walter,
What planes are you flying this season? Which TX are you using.
I am flying the Pike and use Stylus..obviosly with Volz servos...hundreds
of hours of flight time during the year and still using the same servos :-)

[RCSE] Flap servos for open class TD

2005-04-10 Thread Walter Carter
Anyone care to comment on how HiTec HS-5245MG servos perform as flap servos
on open class TD plane? Also considering JR368, AirTronics 94141 and Volz
Micro Maxx. These have roughly comprable published specs (size, weight,
torque, metal gears, speed) and price. Also want servos to be quiet, have
good centering and small slop. Any comments would be appreciated.

Re:[RCSE] Flap Servos for open class TD

2005-04-10 Thread Walter Carter
James, I've heard nothing but good comments on the 368. Also, at 0.5 they
are as good as any in this group on thickness (they are thin).

Rick,
I believe you are referring to the HS -5245MG and audible noise, right? Did
the old AirTronics recvr have a problem driving the digis?

Albert,
I haven't read up in the digitals. Are they more accurate in positioning?
I've heard they draw relatively high peak current compared to analog.

Thanks to all for comments.

2005-04-10 Thread Walter Carter

The VolzMicro-Maxx X and Micro-Maxx XP are rated at 56 and 67 oz.
in., respectively. Both are 0.51 in. thick. JR DS368 is rated at 53 oz. in. and
is 0.5 in. thick. The HiTech HS-5245MG is rated at 61 oz. in. and is 0.7 in.
thick. Is the HiTech superior to the others since it is 40% thicker?

Also, no need to use thin servos unless you don't have
  the space for anything else.

NEVER use thin servos when you can use thick servos. You
can only make a watch so strong (unless its a Timex :-).Thin servos are
  for thin wings.

I have used Airtronics 94141s at flap on many ships over the years with
great success. I have even replaced Volz micromaxs in one of my Heras and
think the 141 worked better although. The newer Volz servos are probably
better. The only problem with 141s that I ever encountered was an axle
hogging out the case causing slop (after a LONG time) but this is easily
remedied with a new case replacement (cheap).

If you DO use digitals, use ALL digitals: Mixing analog and digitals
might not be a good idea, but you could probably get an argument to the
contrary. If you don't need thin servos, the 94141s are as good as any
other servo available for flap, or any other surface for that matter.

If you want to buy some 94141s or any other Airtronics gear, Please check
my website at
WWW.Dozone.com/AIRTRONICS . I believe you'll find my prices are as good
as any available.
