Re: [RCSE] "Barry Kennedy Vrs Others..a personal experience"

2005-04-15 Thread Marta Zavala
I've dealt with Kennedy Composites before, and it was a bit frustrating due
to lack of communication. For a while, having never dealt with Barry, I
thought I had been burned. None the less Barry finally did come thru on
everything. I think he works at a real job then tries to run the model
business as well alone, so that must be tough. Ive sold a few planes and at
times find it hard just to fulfill those few sales
due to other commitments. After all is said and done I can sympathize
with Barrys plight, but yes being upfront about everything would probably be
the best policy, even if it comes down to saying "I just havent had the time
to get to your order." I am sure Barry is simply just buried right now. He
is a pretty nice guy. BTW, Barry, if you read this, have you heard anything
from Vlad about the bullet proof Blaster you spoke to me about? I just
started working out again and feel in a few more months Ill be ready to test
the spar for you guys!

2005-04-15 Thread clayrace2000

The issue with Barry is that he has been making lots of promises,
with specific delivery dates, on his two hottest products and
missing those dates repeatedly to the same customers.Perhaps those
of you who know Barry better/longer haven't had the experiences that
others are having if you haven't tried to order an Ava or Blaster in
the last few months. I pretty sure he is overwelmed with orders for
both products and simply can't get enough product to fill the orders
in a timely manner. The problem is he's been telling people
that "I've got your plane right here and it will go out tomorrow" or
something similar instead of , "I've got 100 blaster orders in front
of yours and you probably won't get your plane for 3 months". It's
the customer's expectations that he sets that are now hurting his
reputation with his new customers.

Barry is a very nice guy for sure, but he needs to bite the bullet
and either be more accurate in quoting lead times his customers, or
let someone else carry the line for Vladamir's products as well...
right now, he's in over his head.

Lastly, coin collecting is a hobby. For most of us who take time to
read RCSE, soaring is much more than a hobby, although somewhat
short of life and death. Our passions run high as do our
expenditures. There are dozens of one man operations in this
business who exercise a level of customer service that would be
exemplary by any Fortune 500 standard. Kennedy Composites isn't one
of them, at least recently.

I wish everyone would back off on Tuan Le's
complaints.  Are they out of order for what has happened to him?  Not
in my book.

I have personal experience on 2 orders from
him, and personally know of 5 other orders, that were treated similarly.
The orders never showed up when he said, and emails & phones suddenly went
silent.

As a vendor, customer expectations on
delivery time are set entirely by Barry.  From my experience he likes to
pass on the rosiest of scenarios to his customers (me
included).

I too, believe Barry is an honest business
person, but I wish he would manage customer expections better.  All it
takes is a phone call or email saying

"Hi there.  I promised I'd ship your
plane on XX date.  Well, YY happened, and I now expect to ship your plane
on ZZ date.  Sorry for the delays.  Just want you to be informed on
  recent events".
I wish Barry the best in his business, as
well as Tuan the best with his order.

Wow Chuck!

I greatly respect people with low AMA numbers. They are the one who I
believe help lay the ground work for what Model Aviation is today. It
was not you who called me a newbie as I believe you would never be one
to personally attack someone by calling them names.

I got my AMA in 1988 or 89 :)

I got quite a
bit of flack for posting this as I know many are Barry's
friends.
I was not intending to do anything more than
get a response from Barry to let me know what is going on. I sympathize with the canine scenario, but even that
didn't take over 2 weeks. Maybe some people can put up with a straight
lie or two, but I can't. In my business, when I tell a customer to expect
something and it doesn't come to fruition, I know I better get on the the horn to let
them know. No excuses. And never, never would I tell them something that I don't
know if I can deliver or not.
I've learn that mistakes will happen, but it's how we handle it that tells
people if we care.

If my posting hurt's Barry's
business, I apologize. BUT IT IS THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH. Well not quite. I had ordered Mar 22, not just 2 weeks
ago. Was told I should receive last week. That is all I expect.
My 2 calls that got through to him have been very very
polite and full of understanding. My 10
other calls went unanswered.

When I
get no response, I feel like maybe because I am not in the circle of friends, I
am insignificant to deal with. If that is so, do not do business with me. He
doesn't have to deal with me. But by accepting my money, he has agreed to,
whether he knows it or not, to at least acknowledge me as a customer.
Am I wrong to ask this? May be
so, but I have paid my funds and do come to expect at least some common
courtesy. Or am I in the wrong business?
Maybe I should start in the hobby. Take the orders, collect the funds, and
ship at my convenience. Oh, and maybe take care of close friends first.

I do regret having to post this as I got some idiotic responses, but alas, it
has gotten results. I got a call from Barry tonight to tell me all have been
packed and will ship out tomorrow. If it is so, I will write and post for all
that he came through, even if a little late.

[RCSE] "Barry Kennedy Vrs Others..a personal experience"

2005-04-08 Thread GordySoar

Recently Barry Kennedy has been stealing attention away from me by using
low tricks to gain attention on the RCSE, and since I have not slept with Barry,
I have spent a bunch of time with him over the past couple of years, and even
bought some things like the Blaster, the new most amazing Graphite and AVA
components for a Majestic conversion from V tail to X tail.  The recent
post from the 'wizard', caused me to re-evaluate my opinions the subject and so
I recall this story which describes and compared Barry to other examples in my
recent past life experiencehopefully it will clarify Barry's situation to
all who might want to get some of the leading edge stuff Barry gets for
us.

A few weeks ago one morning I got home from 'down
under' and Vegas and Toronto and was lying in bed next to my very hot wife, it
was a Saturday (the one day which my company will not allow me to do any work)
and the female (both dog and wife in this case although not the same body
shapes) being the smaller of the two (the dogs, and smaller of the two between
my wife and this female dog) was snuggling up to me after they had been outside
for their morning trip to the yard (the dogs not the dog and the wife, although
it was my wife that usually lets them out, however most of the time they let
theirselves out, since they have learned to open the door (the dogs, although
the wife is capable of that trick too) and also capable of closing the door and
do when they come back in (the dogs and wife in this case), the male dog came in
last and decided to get some attention from me too and being the bigger of the
two (two dogs that is, not bigger than my wife (even though she's fairly
petite..the wife not the dog who is about 50lbs...(the female dog that is, not
the wife) he pushed his way between me and the female dog who decided that she
was not yet done getting attention, turned, and bit him on one ear, piercing it,
the male who is 90lbs, decided that it wasn't okay and in turn bit and pierced
her ear creating a bloody nasty mess and caused an escalation in their
discussion..to which i decided to join in and that got me pierced too, in the
mean time my wife stayed snuggled in, paying no attention whatsoever.

What does this have to do with Barry Kennedy and his failure to ship that
poor souls AVA, or even to return calls? The whole event ended up at the Vet for
surgery to the male's ear $400, and almost as much for the female's ear, I just
use super glue to patch myself up and warm soapy water to clean up the blood in
the bedroom.
What kind of dogs you ask?  Catahoula Leopards of course (state
dog of Louisiana) and as smart as they are, they never call me back or ship
stuff when i ask them...same goes for the wife.

In fact of the four (female dog, male dog, wife and Barry) Barry is by far
the most reliable about returning my calls about sailplanes.

Really hope this clarifies what likely happened with the tragedy that was
the wizards nightmare.
