RE: [RCSE] JR Tx charging plug (was: JR Service rocks)
The biggest travesty of going down a non-standard route with a standard plug is that it is impossible to change your mind and fix it later. If they suddenly decide to correct this, their new equipment will be incompatible with their older stuff. Because there is no keying on the connector, they have painted themselves into a corner... -l -Original Message- From: glide [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, June 20, 2005 4:38 PM To: soaring@airage.com Subject: RE: [RCSE] JR Service rocks When I first of JR years ago, I was surprise about the center negative charge plug. All others were different. It was the same with the old Airtronics servo plugs being different from the rest of the industry after which Airtronics started doing the Z plugs which was just made it the same as the rest of the industry. Is there a reason that JR chooses to do their transmitter charge plug differently? I guess it's the same reason Multiplex uses a DIN plug for their transmitters - because they can and want to do it that way grin. [RCSE] JR TX Battery Plug
I have a new JR TX battery for my 347 with a broken plug on the pack. Would anyone out there have a old JR battery that is dead for a 347, 388, or 8103? I Would like to buy the plug with a little wire to splice into this new pack. Called Horizon Hobby but they don't sell just the plug. Thanks Mark Soaring Is Life!! Maybe give Batteries America call: http://www.batteriesamerica.com/ They list them as available, but I don't know if they will sell without battery. -- Andrew E. Re: [RCSE] JR Tx battery connectors
Hi Andy my name is Fernando Magnetti, from Argentina. I´m using a connector from a old wireless phone battery , you could find many kinds to chose, this work great for my!!! Batteries America does not sell them, my local hobby shop says that JR refuses to sell them, and their largest capacity JR branded pack with correct connector is an 800... so is my only option to put an adapter pigtail on the Tx, with something like Deans on one end, and use that style on the packs? ...leading to the second question... why the heck are battery connectors not standardized as well as servos?! [RCSE] JR TX and RX Crystals?
Hi Gang, I have a question regarding JR TX RX crystals. It was pointed out to me today after my brother experienced some radio interferance which cost him one plane (Sharon) and almost cost him his Stratos that JR crystals have a series of dots on them that must be matched up in order to get maximum range and selectivity from them. What I was told is that if your TX crystal has the left dot darkened then your RX crystal must also have the left dot darkened. This is the first time I have heard of this and have been flying for quite some time now with unmatched dots. I have not experienced any kind of problems whatsoever with my current planes but after seeing the Sharon go straight in today from 200 feet and shred through some trees it has me very gun shy. Could some of the JR experts on the list please shed some light on this for me. BTW, my brother had been flying his 8103 for quite some time with the combination of crystals he has in it and had never experienced a problem before. I am finding it hard to believe that JR would have such a system in place and not mention it in their manuals and also wonder why just now things would show up a kill a plane. My guess there was more to his crash, ie switch failure, battery problem, bad module or something of that sort than the dots not matching on the crystals. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. See ya, Pat McCleave Wichita, KS RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Re: [RCSE] JR TX and RX Crystals?
Did we made a ground range check? Some Rx antenna input has DC path to chassis -ve, make a ohmic check while wiggle the wire antenna. Those do not possess DC path must open the back cover and direct access the root tip at the chassis. Use a tailor pin to poke through the PVC jacket for the copper strands inside the wire antenna. Did we check all connectors/wire junctions? Unmatched dots is the last on the list to point my finger to. Hope that helps. YK Chan Seattle RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News.
