Re: [RCSE] Not a NEW Product...

2001-12-21 Thread Del Schier K1UHF FN31

I am not very active posting on this list but I am all for e-mail adds
related to RC Soaring products on this reflector.

Small cottage industry companies are what keeps a hobby like this alive.
Being able to advertize essentially for free makes the product less
expensive and makes the company more likely to succeed.

I am involved with a small amateur related company that does advertize in
the magazines. Our product is probably 10% more expensive because of those
adds. Fortunately that hobby is very good for word of mouth advertizing
which is our best form of advertizing. An email reflector is just another
way that people interested in the same hobby can communicate.

Re: [RCSE] Not a NEW Product...

2001-12-17 Thread Ba553
Dear Sam Ward:

I am sorry that you were offended by a simple advertisement that had an honest subject line for a product.

I guess that you are new to this exchange so  I'll clue you in.  This is a forum for and by sailplane model enthusiasts who are interested in learning all about the latest and greatest airplanes, flying sites, contests, and equipment to help us enjoy our sport to the fullest.  I have asked technical questions and received answers from as far away as Australia.

This is a unique forum that I have enjoyed thoroughly for over 3 years.  I would guess that new product announcements account for about 2% of the total traffic.  A typical ad in a magazine has to be sent in months before it will be inserted, printed, and mailed out.  This forum allows us to read about new products, new production runs of outstanding products like "Real Balls" and  others.  This sport has a tiny group of manufacturers who provide a superb service to the soaring community.  Think of the days before the Web the products were few, sold by the larger modelling companies, and the evolution in soaring products was dinosaur-like slow.

If you do not care to read an occasional advertisement for a product that could revolutionize the soaring community, then kindly unsubscribe.

Respectfully yours,

Bruce Alber, PASS

I just want to say that this sentiment is not shared by all... I for one
welcome these kinds of notices from smaller vendors who do not have the
advertising budget of the larger outfits.

Sam, I'm not sure who made you the list monitor but kindly resign your
position. Most of us want to hear news of new products and enjoy and
benefit from these posts. Your posts seem to have a decidedly negative and
mean spirited tone. Take them some place else, won't you or if you just
can't take the ads subscribe to another list that doesn't get your blood
boiling. Why not try one of the meditation groups. You might benefit.
Your friend,
Ed

Why do you not just send the people that have been waiting, an email and
tell them you finally decided to make some parts.

I never ordered anything from you, so please don't waste my time.

I think that anyone that runs a hobby business, that posts ads (this was an
ad) should have that email address blocked from this forum.

Take an ad out in a magazine.

Airage should start charging for these ads, see how fast the ads stop.

Companies should have opt in lists.

If these companies were doing so much business, they would not have time to
keep posting these ads and or need to.

Stop warning and start blocking.

"Real Balls" are back in stock. Those that have had
back orders for "Real Balls", your stuff will ship before Christmas. I will be
taking orders for  WinchDoctor winches after the first of the year. If you
don't know whar "Real Balls" are, ask Jack Strother what he thinks of them.
