[RCSE] OVSS #1 - CSS Memorial

2005-05-24 Thread James V. Bacus
What a way to kick off the OVSS series! That was really a fun time. The
weather kept changing with no apparent patterns, great contest
weather. Everyone was just really enjoying themselves, and that is so cool
to be around. The contest was tight, the CSS guys continue to demonstrate
they know how to run and keep a seeded MoM contest rolling. Scoring was on
it, there was never a delay from round to round. Sieb at CD was calling
appropriate task times, after nine years some clubs have fine tuned this
format to rock solid fun. It was also nice to see some new guys showing
their skills... who is this Paul Sherman pilot??? 8-) (really nice guy)

Thank you CSS club, you really put on a great contest and I like contesting
your flying field. Thank you to the OVSS pilots and crew, you guys are a
great group to contest and fly with.

Here are some pictures I snapped over the weekend, notice all the big smiles!

Actually it's John flying TK's foam 3D electric profile model like it's
never been flown before, he was twisting the fuse with some of his
maneuvers! I told him I was going to take a picture of him with a Stylus
for Peter. 8-) (good laugh)

I figured you might also spot this Futaba model sitting on a JR chair with
my 10x... 8-))

Those paddles are electric bug swatters, they zap the bugs with a good
spark, Capn' Jack was selling them. Of course they are posing around a
Mantis. 8-)

What a riot. Hope you saved some for Ft Wayne.

CSS guys, thank you all for a great job on the contest. Among the best run
contest, I've ever been to. Lots of good guys, and yes... lots of smiles
all weekend.

Many fond memories.

Jim, thanks for the photos. I was showing my wife all the guys I spent the
weekend with.

Wow, what a talent pool. Out of 40 pilots on Saturday, I counted 7 or 8 LSF
level 5's. And 5-8 more pilots with equal or superior skills. Wow! While
not entirely happy with my flying Saturday, I was proud of my 11th place
finish, given the talent in attendance.
