I'm sure in the process one can pick-up on something new
and learn. After all, it's not like we compete to attain a
$$$ purse for a top standing, right.

A few years ago at the Nats, Artie was flying well in the top 10
(perhaps leading), when he landed and a little part of his skeg popped
off. Nobody noticed, but Artie insisted in taking a zero for that
landing.

That's sportsmanship.

This happened after his scorecard was handed in. He realized what had
happened when he put his plane away then came to scoring and had it corrected.

Arthur Markiewicz, A class act indeed!

Rules 101

Class is in session. Let me see a show of hands of those
not wishing to attend... hit delete now! :-(

Hey, what are some of the gentlemen rules we all should
follow but they really don't get mentioned or posted??

You know... like if you join a thermal and one guy is
turning one way, you should join in by turning in the same
direction, etc...

What are some other good guidelines to follow in the quest
for GREAT SPORTSMANSHIP!!?!?!

Hello Gordy :-) (can't resist any longer)

What is good sportsmanship anyways? Jumping in a corn
field to help a fellow pilot find his plane and then having
an allergic reaction all over your body because of this
good deed???

You bring a quick shade and you let other share in your sun
blocking device

WHAT IS GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP AND can you provide examples?
I'm sure in the process one can pick-up on something new
and learn. After all, it's not like we compete to attain a
$$$ purse for a top standing, right.

Just throwing this out there. We can talk about contest
format for the next NATS all day and we have all year to do
this.

Thanks,

Edgar

P.S. Yes, I'm bored and miss that Muncie flying!

I hate to burst your bubble, John. But, yes, many many
 need the contest
format to have fun. Yes, I pitty them too. Especially
 when they argue over
 the rules!!

The really good pilots don't argue. They just show up and
 compete. The
others have to fuss over the details.

But what are we going to do? They are a large bunch and
 sometimes they buy
 the soda pop.

 Here's an idea: Elvis impersonators!
 That's what we need. DANG!

 Pathetic.

Supply enough new, neatly folded heavy duty garbage bags during the
downed recovery process of your buddy's first attempt at DS'ing.
During the recovery process avoid extended periods of guttural laughter,
instead opting to talk quietly in a soft soothing voice like his mummy
would. If it was his brand new $1500 aircraft with no time on it that
you egged him on to bury, maybe keep your distance...
