I believe that James is right. There may be some lithium in there but its not a LiPoly or Lithium Ion chemistry. I did a quick search of the web and found plenty of info on the lithium AAs but nothing that discussed the chemistry used. I has to do with design of the cell chemistry, and obviously in addition to manufacturing, current output, recharging, among other things.
