"Brent" Sorry about the Doug... Also, Isthmus Models is coming out with a two meter Cara. Built up with CF tube spar. Hard launches & very wide speed range. Flew it in the same winds as the Mirage and it spec'd out several times while moving around the sky like a moldie. Best 2 meter I have ever flown...no lie. RES 2 Meter 38 ounces 4 piece wing Full flying stab Glass fuse with nose cone Contact Mark Miller - I cc'd him this email Augie McKibben - Original Message - From: "Douglas, Brent" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Wednesday, July 12, 2006 7:40 AM Subject: RE: [RCSE] (Aussie 2M)... I'd also put out feelers for a (used) SuperV or a 2M Mantis, if you can take the abuse you'll get about how it looks (as you make time after time) Good luck, Brent RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. David. I wouldn't have thought that the SD-7084 airfoil is slope oriented. It is used on a bunch of HLG and DLG gliders, as well as a number of TD models. When you look at your criteria, there isn't a lot available to you, and the Starling Pro would certainly be amongst the top of the list. It goes very well on the winch in TD contests and also shines on the slope. RE: [RCSE] (Aussie 2M)...
I thought you might be "surprised" by its overall look, but I swear, half the reason it gets made fun of so much is because it just flies so well. It came on the scene and beat a lot of much more expensive, much prettier ships. A lot of people out there got beat by some ugly*, inexpensive planes. Most of the Mantises (Mantii?) had an MH32 airfoil (some 7037s), bagged foam with a carbon tube spar. 3 piece wing, held on with a single bolt, room in the wing mount for ballast. Phil Barnes put them out for a long time, not sure if he still does tho. There are still a lot out there, and except for the week before Nats, they're usually moderately easy to find. I flew against one of the 2 meter versions this weekend - it is strong and light, and it really handles (turns and lands) extremely well. Again, the biggest knock has always been how they look. Good luck, hope you find something good - Brent *I always mean the fuse pod / wing mount - the wings always looked like they longed to be on another ship. -Original Message- From: David Leigh [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, July 12, 2006 2:09 PM To: soaring@airage.com Cc: David Leigh Subject: RE: [RCSE] (Aussie 2M)... Thanks Klaus, but it is slope oriented and not enough wing area. Douglas I have looked at the Mantis 2m and had a giggle, I do like good looking planes, but I might be convinced. What sort of wing is it? Cheers David RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News.
