As you noticed, it happens after the machine has been running for a while and is circumvented by powering off for some time, so it looks like a kind of thermal failure. When the machine resets--whether by reboot from the operating system, reboot from comBIOS, pressing the reset switch, or issuing "reset" from the uManager--it doesn't come up again. Mine usually showed no output at all, but occasionally it would start to POST and hang then. One thought I had is that the reset circuit might be failing, but I have no idea how that is implemented on the net6501: old-school discrete circuitry, a dedicated reset IC, or as part of the Intel chipset? Back when the first batch of net5501s had a bad capacitor, Soekris Europe resoldered the correct component and returned the board. That they exchanged the whole net6501 board (different MAC addresses!) for this reboot failure would suggest that it isn't easily fixable. -- Christian "naddy" Weisgerber na...@mips.inka.de ___ Soekris-tech mailing list Soekris-tech@lists.soekris.com http://lists.soekris.com/mailman/listinfo/soekris-tech

[Soekris] net6501 hanging on reboots after 012345 (take 2)
Hello, I'd like to know if anyone had solution for this : http://marc.info/?l=soekris-tech&m=131703535427987&w=2 The issue is annoying me. This is a reboot issue where POST hangs at 012345 on NET6501-70 using BIOS 1.41c. It happens only when the board has been powered-up for some time, I'd say > ~10 minutes. When the issue arise, the only way to make it usable again is to let it unplugged for some time (no figure here, it seems to vary from a few seconds to more than 20 minutes depending on how much time it was previously powered-up). I also own a NET6501-50 (same BIOS version) and it doesn't have that problem. I tried to switch PSU (from 2A to 5A), change disk (tried SATA SSD, SATA mechanical drive, USB key, mSATA SSD, many brands), booting Linux, OpenBSD (from 5.0 to 5.9) or waiting at the comBIOS prompt without luck. Could this be a hardware issue ? Thank you in advance, Denis ___ Soekris-tech mailing list Soekris-tech@lists.soekris.com http://lists.soekris.com/mailman/listinfo/soekris-tech
