Re: Softimage 2015 SP2 Crashes due to scrubbing

2016-03-18 Thread Softimage
Hi Nuno,
There was a posting a while back similar to this, I think in the end it was
related to having a 3rd party renderer installed, even though it wasn't been
used! If you've got one maybe try uninstalling and see if it persists.

Cheers

veryOT: amd gpu in blender/cycles

2016-03-18 Thread Gerbrand Nel
Hey guys
This is probably not the right place for this question, but I figured
some of you use blender, and might be able to help.
I am looking at gpu options to render through cycles, and nvidia seems
to be the safe option, but our scenes are using about 5gb of ram, so my
980ti is getting close to the useless point.
I cannot justify buying a bloody titan card, so i'm wondering if the AMD
r9 390 with its glorious 8gb of ram could be the answer.
Anyone here have an amd gpu and render through cycles from time to time?
I would love to know if there are limitations.
Thanks
Gerbrand

Using viewport stats will slow down interaction speed

2016-03-18 Thread Sven Constable
Hello list,

I just discovered an issue when using viewport stats. Playback speed isn't
affected but interaction speed is greatly reduced when using the viewport
stats. It came to my attention when I was comparing video cards with
benchmark scenes in XSI. A scene runs smooth in Softimage2011 an lagged as
hell in 2015. I tested on two machines with the same result. It happens when
'Show Polymesh Polygons Info' is activated, which was introduced in version
2015.
I tested on two machines with the same result.
Don't think it's a gaming vs quadro thing but can anyone confirm this with a
quadro?

cheers,
sven

Re: OT: looking for maya Blendshape plugin

I was offered work at a place that for some reason don't use anything else
in there pipe but maya on linux :P no zbrush no mudbox but they say they do
use "BCS".

This seems kind of weird to me.
