Re: completly OT, AE Quicktime and sound related

2017-02-06 Thread Robert Kjettrup
How do you preview the audio in AE.
If you use Mercury Transmit to preview on a secondary monitor
(preferences->Video Preview), eg a SDI Reference Monitor, and the audio is
set to play through the SDI signal to be in sync on the secondary monitor
(Preferences->Audio Hardware), then if you only have been using your
computer monitor to check sync between the animation and audio, then it
will be off when played from a player, eg QT player, that will play the
audio through the normal computer audio output.

Make sure that the Audio Hardware setup is set to the same output as the OS
uses if you only ar using the computer monitor for everything.

if this is not the problem... then maybe use something other than the QT
player ;-)

Re: Semi OT Softimage pic pluggin for mac ?

2016-04-10 Thread Robert Kjettrup
Im pretty sure there was another .pic format that was different than
Softimage .pic, and that is what is "deprecated" on OSX. As far as i
remember it was an indexed format like gif so max 256 colors. So having
.pic support and its expecting an palette-indexed image and getting a
sofimage .pic with 8bpc it will probably fail to show the image correctly.
I have always used .sgi instead of Softimage pic, mainly for 16bit
support... and nostalgic reasons :-D

Re: How do you guys make sure XSI files and Softimage 7.5+ files will open in 2016?

2015-01-05 Thread Robert Kjettrup
Hi

A bit late to this discussion.
But i had the exact same problem with an even older Softimage version
(v7.1), when i had the brilliant idea to switch my Local Windows account to
a Microsoft account login.
When i started with win8 i created a local account and everything worked in
softimage as in win7 (except some extra security dialog i have to OK each
time starting SI up), when i switched to the Microsoft Account method to
log into Windows, SI would start as usual, but any file browser just didn't
work. Knowing that the only thing i had changed since it worked, was the
account login method, i reverted back to a local account and SI works as it
should again.

So my only fear for the future compatibility of SI and win10 is that a
Microsoft account is needed instead of a local account, but i dont believe
that will be the case :-)

happy new year.

Re: Softimage v7.0.1 USB dongle driver on Win 8.1?

2014-03-31 Thread Robert Kjettrup
thanks all for the comments.

Just a small update on my progress on this.

Stephen Blair mailed me with some help, and as always he is the best
support AD ever had for Softimage even when he is not working for them :-)

My problem was that the SPM installer didnt install correctly and windows 8
was blocking the install of the USD dongle driver.
Forcing to run the installer as administrator (even when my user is set up
as a admin already) made the driver to install correctly, and after this
the License manager did see the USB dongle and i got it to work with the
key file i already had.
Then opening Softimage i got contstant crashes just when the UI had loaded,
every single time. Setting Softimage to always run as administrator also
fixed this, so now im up and running, hopefully without too many unknown
issues that i will discover along the way.

...
now i just wish i had a newer version with more ICE goodies but that
will never happen now :-/

Hi Olivier

As default is PS always colormanaged. Have you tried to turn on Proof

This way you will see the colors in PS as in all other non color managed

Does this correct it?
