Where you buying for a school or a company ? I'm sure there is a way to
talk to him, or to a representative.

Re: Modo, does it still offer discount price for Softimage user?

2014-03-21 Thread Michael Clarke
I think it will be fine for those interested. The offer was abruptly ended due
after it became public.

I'm interested in knowing where MODO will be in two years. I have no reason to
stop using Softimage in the near future, but once the question of Maya vs
Another DCC becomes more urgent, then directions will have to be determined.

Anyway, as far as the offer goes, here is a snip from an email Brad sen me
recently:

_ _

Sorry for the slow response. Yes the deal is still available for those who are
interested. If, after the eval, you want to join the MODO community please let
me know and we can get you taken care of. Also, I am trying to get a webinar
setup in a week or two. I think that will go far to help clear up the history
of MODO and why I think the architecture is of interest. Tim Crowson will post
info about the webinar once I get it lined up.

_ _

Judging from that I think it's pretty clear that this community will still have
a chance to get MODO at a discount if they so desire.

2014-03-21 Thread Graham D. Clark
Yep, he put me in touch with their North American sales rep, no deal I
can't get elsewhere, but understandable, they have to make money too! So
given Modo just fillfils small part of Softs toolset requiring other apps
to purchase raising cost anyways to a full 3D CG app, we're staying with
Soft and moving other seats on to other apps.

That offer was mostly meant for individuals, and possibly to stay around
 longer, but it went viral.

The answer is always the same, get in touch with Brad Peebler, he's kindly
made himself available for queries and deals, his contact info has already
been posted on the list (Tim did, I believe), just look for it and take it
 to him.

I don't think for batches of seats you'll get 50%, but I'm sure you'll get
 some sort of deal.

The promotion was very brief (it got out of hand quickly), but Brad
hinted in a sideways kind of way that something could still be worked
out. There should be a webinar sometime next week. Hopefully we can
clear all this up then.

What he said was people can get a special 60 day trial, and after that if
the are convinced, to get in contact with him, and that the offer would
still hold ?
