Re: [jira] Updated: (SOLR-84) New Solr logo?

2008-10-11 Thread Lukáš Vlček
Andrzej, your ascii looks great ;-)
However, I tried something different, see:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/attachment/12391946/apache_solr_burning.png

If I have a chance then I will try to create also version with sun beams
(based on my proposal
#1http://picasaweb.google.cz/lukas.vlcek/Solr#5235620801281945858 )
instead of flame.

Lukas

If you were to ask me if I like the fact that the Apache word has to be
incorporated then I would tell you that I not happy about it (but this
should not mean that I think that one can not create a perfect design with
the Apache word). The problem I see with this is that there are no official
rules how the Apache word can be used in designs (which type of font, which
color...). Current mix of fonts in my second proposal is not ideal but I am
scared to use any exotic font on Apache because people are used to see
something like Arial Bold and in the end of the day having too exotic design
of Apache could be seen as an disadvantage.

solprovider updated SOLR-84:

Attachment: solr.s1.jpg

Attached variation of #2. The white center of the O allows resizing smaller
without using red. Concept is consistent height and thinner S. Used capital L
to avoid confusion with I vowel. Kept the lowercase R. I like the rounded
corners, although they disappear at smaller sizes.

Logo must include Apache. Added as white text inside the S. Disappears at
smaller sizes so we may need two versions to meet this requirement at small
sizes.

Soly is for the enterprise and needs a logo acceptable to large companies.
IMO, none of the logos with flames meet this standard.

Following up on SOLR-76, our trainee Nicolas Barbay (nicolas (put at here)
sarraux-dessous.ch) has reworked his logo proposal to be more solar.
This can either be the start of a logo contest, or if people like it we could
adopt it. The gradients can make it a bit hard to integrate, not sure if this
 is really a problem.

RE: [jira] Updated: (SOLR-84) New Solr logo?

2006-12-21 Thread Fuad Efendi
Thanks!
We shouldn't forget about CSS XHTML Solr Admin screen (is it the only
place for Solr Logo?)...
Someone should tune everything... Logo looks differently depending on
location (east, west, ...); I'd add some dynamic, but unsure... Old one was
dynamic (flaming letters)...
