[spectre] V2_ | DEAF07- Interact or Die!

2007-02-12 Diskussionsfäden V2_

*Dutch Electronic Art Festival, April 2007

DEAF07: Interact or Die!
*
From 10 through 29 April 2007, the eighth Dutch Electronic Art Festival
(DEAF) will take place in Rotterdam. This international festival is
organized every two years by V2_, Institute for the Unstable Media. It
will be the first event to take place in the fully renovated Las Palmas
cultural center in Rotterdam’s Kop van Zuid area. This year’s theme is
Interact or Die!

DEAF features an extensive program addressing art, technology, science
and society, with a large exhibition of interactive art as a focal
point. This year’s festival will devote special attention to China.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy concerts, performances, seminars,
workshops and a symposium. DEAF07 is the definitive event at which the
international ‘creative city’ network comes together.

*
25 Years of V2_ *
Organizer V2_, which has developed DEAF into an important international
festival for art and media technology, turns 25 years old this year. One
of the DEAF07 theme nights will accordingly be devoted to V2_’s
anniversary. A part of the festival program will also focus on the
network V2_ has built in China and Asia over the past few years. Young
artists and exhibition makers from China, along with several key members
of the Chinese art world, will play an active role at DEAF.

*The Main Location: Las Palmas *
DEAF07’s main venue is the Las Palmas cultural center, a renovated
building which once housed workshops for the Holland America Line. It is
located in the Kop van Zuid area of Rotterdam. DEAF07 is the first
festival to take place in the renovated Las Palmas, which will
officially be opened on 18 April by a very distinguished guest. DEAF’s
other locations include the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, V2_, Ro
Theater, Pakhuismeesteren, and Arminius.

More information on the Dutch ElectronicArt Festival (DEAF07) can be
found on our site: www.deaf07.nl .

It is a beautiful hacked project from your part to contribute the sense by
difference between all our medias on line.

I personally enjoy the borning of Square white world, Simon!

Whatever the difference of opinions and points of view in the free universe
of the crazy world at the moment the system of equivalence of the value from
the productive society has disappeared... Welcome in the singular universe
of diverse multiple ideas of freedom.

Congratulations and long life to your critical creation!

ARTEFACT festival - 1318 FEBRUARI 2007
STUK kunstencentrum - Leuven

Zie of zie

ruimer, vele disciplines omvattend kader.

ARTEFACT is een
initiatief van provincie Vlaams-Brabant i.s.m. STUK kunstencentrum

Bubble Wrap
LAUNCH 12.30pm TUESDAY 20 FEBRUARY 2007

Operative 11am-2.30pm daily to August.

Developed specifically for the Lion Art Centre site, 'Bubble Wrap' is
an innovative and interactive art installation for the public realm.
It aims to bring a new, surprising and vibrant element of interest to
a wide range of city users.
In the centre of the courtyard, soap bubbles pop, sway and push their
way up and under passing feet. The installation celebrates play and
experimentation and invites exploration. 'Bubble Wrap' offers
individual enjoyment and a voyeur's opportunity - to watch other
people explore.

Sydney-based Duke Albada graduated from the prestigious Gerrit
Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Working part-time as
an architect/designer, Duke is now a recognized artist of public art
works which relate to the ecology and history of a given area. Her
studio and gallery work seeks not only to make sculptures, but also
to research and contemplate - in art, science, philosophy, geometry
and music. Materials are varied and include new media, evanescent
matter, natural materials, and building products. She has recently
moved her works into the gallery and museum environment.
Duke has received numerous commissions both solo and collaboratively
and has been a regular exhibitor at prestigious public art events.
Her works are held in a number of private collections.

Full Program

BRIEF
Despite the numerous tech-specific, or future
looking events, appearing daily on the world
stage, it is worth noting that we are almost at
the end of the first decade of this century, and
yet the discourses which we are using are quite
old - postmodern at its best!

The Symposium is therefore aimed at defining the
concepts and processes characteristic for the
beginning of the 21st century. Some of the themes
the speakers are urged to visit: What are the
decisive theoretical and practical developments
of this decade? How has the ideological framework
of images shifted in the 21st Century? How can we
measure the real power of these images? Are some
aesthetic categories or concepts of the late 20th
century already obsolete? Are there new
categories appearing on the horizon

Bio-technology and other wireless, or less so,
technologies are offering themselves to us quite
openly, but perhaps more important are the
hidden, underlying processes in our society,
which we seem to constantly neglect.

Symposium convened by Melentie Pandilovski
