Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] A massive thanks to maintainers
And another "here here" from me. I had not used LMS much since buying a couple of Booms and a Transporter, I was happy streaming Radio Paradise and leaving it at that, but when I found the forum and sat down one Saturday and spent time getting everything set up I appreciated the software and the plugins better. I particularly use the FLAC playback as I have a trial subscription to the Society of Sound. I really appreciate the efforts of the people who keep the programmes and the add ins updated. Thanks guys. terryd's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66110 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106676 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS suddenly stopped working
I don't know. The errors you get are due to lack of collation string. That string is based on the language you're using - but should never be empty. You don't use a custom-strings file or something? Not intentionally. Is this something I could have started doing unintentionally? No, very unlikely. And certainly not without restarting LMS - and the errors start to show up quite a while after the last restart. Are you using the UPnP funcitonality of LMS? I don't think so...? My two squeezeboxen (a duet receiver, and a radio) have been set up manually. Turn off Andy Grundmann's UPnP/DLNA plugin, not the bridge. And make sure you disable the images/videos from the music folder settings, then run a full wipe & rescan. And restart LMS. It's probably just a red herring. But the call which is being logged is reported to come from the Settings/Information web page trying to show the number of images and movies found in your library. By disabling the UPnP plugin and image/video scanning this should no longer happen. It might only be a side-effect, but help with your situation anyway. BTW: upon your next server restart the server.log file should be re-created, and the old one moved aside. Make sure you delete it (server.log.1), as you don't want to run out of disk space... -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Scanner does not avoid shortcut loops
Developer andyg said in that old thread that "There is already some code to deal with loops of shortcuts/symlinks". But it's not working even with the most minimal test case I could think of: create two folders, each containing a symlink to the other, and scan the parent folder. Can you set logging options for scan.* to debug, re-run that minimum test scan, then upload the resulting scanner.log file? -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Scanner does not avoid shortcut loops
Much like forum user Richard Boyce 'asked about in 2009' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?72472-Scanner-looping&p=496622&viewfull=1#post496622), my media library has gobs of Windows folder shortcuts which are causing my scanning process to enter a loop, chasing the same shortcuts and scanning the same folders over and over. This is in both 7.7.5 and a 7.9.0 build I downloaded today. Unlike his situation, it is not a matter of folder contents being modified after a successful scan. I can't even get to a point where the whole library has been scanned. I cleaned the cache and chose "Clear library and rescan everything" from the control panel, but it still gets caught in the loop and I have to abort. I looked and could not find if a bug report was ever filed. I only found one from two years later, '16990' (http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=16990), which was closed as a "works for me". Developer andyg said in that old thread that "There is already some code to deal with loops of shortcuts/symlinks". But it's not working even with the most minimal test case I could think of: create two folders, each containing a symlink to the other, and scan the parent folder. Should I file a new bug report for this? mjb2016's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66432 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106698 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Ok, I clicked on "Settings", selected the the "Plugins" tab and unchecked "UPnP/DLNA bridge", and then Apply and then let the LMS restart when asked if it could. Was that the correct way to disable it? The music list that normally should have held the iTunes library was still empty, and TIDAL plugin was gone, but the Spotify plugin had playlists in it after a while (but now they are gone again). ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] A massive thanks to maintainers
I have what I believe to be a very nice sound system thanks to multiple SB devices, a DAC and some nice older components. I am very fortunate. I listen to music that sounds like the orchestra is right here in my room. I'm also very thankful for Pippin and ipeng which makes pulling up great music quite convenient. Also, thankful for Michael for his continued diligence in maintaining things. Thankful, too, for this forum and all the members who help one another. I, like so many others, am SO disappointed in Logitech for discontinuing the SQUEEZEBOX devices. Very disappointed! LMS and iPeng both are not displaying non-Latin characters correctly. I have LMS 7.9 on FreeBSd, which has UTF-8 installed, so it ought to be correct. Is "NB" short for Norwegian Bokmal? Yes. But your LMS is set to EN? Does it matter? It has been working until it suddenly started failing...? I don't know.
