Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Getting playlist name from CLI

2019-12-30 Thread baztian

I managed to get the information once I loaded the playlist with

b8:27:eb:d0:cc:13 playlistcontrol cmd:load
playlist_name:44-21-65-188-196
b8%3A27%3Aeb%3Ad0%3Acc%3A13 playlistcontrol cmd%3Aload
playlist_name%3A44-21-65-188-196 count%3A1

b8:27:eb:d0:cc:13 playlist name ?
b8%3A27%3Aeb%3Ad0%3Acc%3A13 playlist name 44-21-65-188-196
b8:27:eb:d0:cc:13 playlist playlistsinfo
b8%3A27%3Aeb%3Ad0%3Acc%3A13 playlist playlistsinfo id%3A9936
name%3A44-21-65-188-196 modified%3A0
url%3Afile%3A%2F%2F%2Fsrv%2Fmusic%2FPlaylists%2F44-21-65-188-196.m3u

So maybe it's a bug in playlist resume command? Anyway, for me the issue
is solved.

2019-12-30 Thread Michael Herger

The network.squeezenetwork logging was set to INFO, rather than ERROR.
I'm not sure how that happened, but it seems to have solved the issue.
That said, does mysqueezebox really have to request player info every 15
msec?

I'm sorry, forgot to respond here: no, those requests aren't expected.
There must be a bug in LMS which can lead to this situation.
Unfortunately I still haven't found what is triggering it. When this
happens it would be good to shut down LMS for about 15 minutes. As long
as it's hammering mysb.com, it'll be banned from the server. Which means
you won't be able to use services through mysb.com etc.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Music Service Integration

2019-12-30 Thread Michael Herger

Material caches the artist and album lists (but not lists of albums by
an artist), and uses the 'LMS last scan time' to know when the cache is
invalid. If artists from online services are to be merged, I'd need
someway of knowing when my cache is invalid.

Optimizing updates isn't in LMS responsibility (except for the services
built-in). But it's a big challenge indeed. We don't want to hammer
music services every few minutes just to update when there's no update
at all. But we should get updates as quickly as possible (thought this
most likely will have to rely on polling - which I hate).

In my case, on the default skin I couldn't click through on genre's and
get the list of actual files with the genre tags. With the material
skin I could identify the files and correct them. This may not help
you, my apologies, after re-reading your original post. If you are
looking for the location of playlist files that are showing up, have
have no content, it may help.

If you have cue files this post #4 explains the TWO settings to adjust
to ignore them -
https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?101047-Delete-ALL-playlists
- mentioned how to turn off "cue sheets" being used for playlists.

-
If you want to keep the CUE sheets, just go to Settings > Advanced >
File Types and enter "cue" (without quotes) under both "Disabled Audio
File Extensions" and "Disabled Playlist File Extensions". You'll
probably then have to run a full library scan to see the effects this
change-

Anyway I’ve temporarily switched to the desktop version and cast my

it’s 50/50 as to which I will choose long term. If one is the subject of

On the how to interstate Artists I also agree with the latter proposed
approach.

I'd prefer to *not* have this in the list of albums, but move it into
the toolbar as an extra action. So, when querying albums by an artist,
this would be (I assume) the last entry in the list and hardware UI's,
etc could just have this as the last entry - but control points (if they
wish) would be informed that this is an action that can be moved
elsewhere.

Totally agree, we need a way to stay on top of what we like, and
Favorites is the LMS way for this. The services do have own ways, but
I’m sure to integrate this would be a hell of work. Maybe later on,
somebody could code an import function e.g. for TIDAL collection.

Hi,

There's a lot that could be going on here so very difficult to diagnose
with limited information but some suggestions:

1) Did you try restarting the server manually (CLI, GUI tool?) instead
of power cycling? Are you able to monitor HW resource
utilisation/general health on the NAS? Can you reach LMS with a web
browser when things are not working? (maybe the problem is with your
clients, sorry, I know nothing about them).

2) Is it possible some additional SW is now running on your NAS creating
a resource shortfall for the LMS? Or perhaps simply running out of
storage space?

3) I don't know your NAS, I ran LMS on an entry level synology unit for
several years, the interface was always sluggish (but streamed fine
which is all I cared about) due to low HW resources, at some point a
synology SW update destroyed the performance and sometimes the LMS would
require a restart in order to function. I now run LMS on a raspberry pi
and am really happy with this as a platform.

Good luck!

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Music Service Integration

2019-12-30 Thread mherger

Question: What music service should be tightly integrated with My Music
first?

- Deezer
- Napster
- Qobuz
- Tidal
- Other
- I don't care about online services

Some more questions: when browsing artists, should an artist from your
online service show all albums in "My Music", or only the albums you've
added to your favorites? Eg. Frank Zappa would have dozens, if not
hundreds of albums. When drilling down My Music/Artists/Frank Zappa,
would you expect them all to be there, or only the ones you like?

I tend to the second option, making My Music really the entry point to
the stuff I have actively added to my collection. For discovery I'd go
to the service specific app menus. Or I could try to add a "more of this
artist on XYZ"?

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS on MacOS 10.15 "Catalina"?

2019-12-30 Thread whitman

Evan, it's a fair point you make.

That's another reason I'm not speeding to the update... there's nothing
in Catalina that makes me think wow, I must have that!

The reason I've gone along with updates in the past was because, even if
they didn't have features that were particularly attractive to me (and
some of the updates certainly did), they did at least come with the
latest set of fixes and improvements in general.

I think much of the problem, if that's what it is, comes from Apple
painting itself into a corner where they have to do a so-called "major"
update to the various operating systems every year. Used to be they
simply offered an update when they had a batch of new things ready to
go.

Anyway, Catalina's the first time I've hesitated. And it's turning into
a long hesitation.

in both fields I have 'cue'. Previously I did not have cue populated but
tried it to solve the issue

I recently installed a new Pi system where the music path was different
to my last installation. I found references on the server log to
handling deleted files or similar. It turned out to be from obsolete
entries in playlists due to the change in music path. I deleted the
playlists and the problem was gone. Just an idea.

I agree it could be misleading or else not what I understand - either
way if removing the "cue" file removes the problems - it narrows down
the problem area.

I think the reference to "cue" files in post#1 is somehow misleading, OP
seems to have added "cue" to LMS/Settings/Advanced/File Types/? Perhaps
OP could advise if this is so?

Back to the beginning.

Need to identify why the problem started when your system seemed to be
OK before.

Does the problem go away when you remove the "cue" files you added as
described in post #1. If so, then problem is related to the "cue" file
, if not then it was a coincidence and we need to look elsewhere for the
issue (e.g. file system problem)
