I used to be Chief Software guy at Dell), a second hand Dell Optiplex Small Form Factor, or Ultra Small Form Factor make a great LMS Server, you can get them for as little as $25 on ebay, they won't have a hard drive, but do have a valid Windows license key in the ROM. Here is one https://ebay.us/568ghb You can upgrade the memory with a few extra Gb, add 320Gb SSD and install Windows 7 then upgrade to Windows 10 for free. I run my Optiplex under the TV with a cable attached to one of the TV ports and network access to the NAS. If you decide to got this route, a dedicated Optiplex, anything will do, I recommend getting an i7 processor though. --- https://ctproduced.com < Creed Taylor/CTI/KUDU http://markcathcart.com/about Running LMS Server, currently 7.9.3 on Headless WIN10 System; music on Netgear ReadyNAS; Transporter(Living Room)+Duet Controller; Squeezebox Touch(Master Bedroom), (2x)Boom(Office, Patio), Radio(Guest Bedroom), Classic(garage), Duet(basement). Davecow wrote: > My trusty old Netgear NAS is dying (or at least the disks are). What > can I replace it with that I can run the Logitech Media Server on (or an > equivalent) for use with my Squeezebox touch? I have a ReadyNas NVX Pioneer edition purchased in 2006. Thats how I got started with LMS, I'd never heard of it until I saw it as an option to run on the ReadyNas. I stopped running my LMS on the ReadyNas when the power supply failed and it was out for a while. The Power supplies are hard to find, but there is a UK ebay seller that has them. I've had one of the 2TB Seagate ST3200 drives failed, but since I run it as a RAID array, I simply replaced it with a Seagate ST2000 2TB drive and it rebuilt the full array. The lesson I learned was to buy a second ReadyNas, I picked up another of the same generation from ebay for next to nothing with no drives. Added 4x 2TB drives and set it up to rsync from the first, it powers on once per week, runs rysnc and powers off. I also backup the content of the first ReadyNas via iDrive, they allow backup from a Windows share. I keep thinking about replacing the ReadyNas, especially since there are 5Tb drives that would have almost as much formatted space as my whole NAS, but then I remember that time my Western Digital 1Tb external drive failed... My criteria for replacing the ReadyNas(es) will be based on the amount of time it will take to build and replace the whole NAS and the size of a single drive. I'd be inclined to actually go with a NAS that could support say 4x/6x/8x 2Tb SSD's, and that can house say 16Tb. I've not looked at how to do that but have heard good things about the WD Red SSD. --- https://ctproduced.com < Creed Taylor/CTI/KUDU http://markcathcart.com/about Running LMS Server, currently 7.9.3 on Headless WIN10 System; music on Netgear ReadyNAS; Transporter(Living Room)+Duet Controller; Squeezebox Touch(Master Bedroom), (2x)Boom(Office, Patio), Radio(Guest Bedroom), Classic(garage), Duet(basement). Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] 2 players cannot connect to LMS 8 on pCP (new behavior today)
Techno-fairies ? However the usual explanation for a problem to go away overnight, is that a cache has expired. There are so many caches in routers, OS, LMS, players etc. - it can be hard to manually clear them all. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112793 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

karlek wrote: > That's something I have to think over again, since I don't understand > the mechanism you want to provide. > I should have a more thorough look at your plugin. :o Not a RadioNet plugin feature - standard LMS/internet feature and same as playlist returned by Tune-in etc. A playlist of multiple stream will be played from the first stream to the last. If you FFW - LMS will skips from the current stream in playlist to next stream in playlist. Often used by stations, server setup to have one URL but multiple ports for same station and if first URL+port is full up - then automatically will skip to next URL+port in playlist - old way (cheap) of load balancing by station. > It's something one have to activate on mysbc. Maybe it's localized and > you'll see another station? Could be a geo issue - like "local " stations. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112784 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Streaming Radio: HTTP connection is not closed
Here is the log file. I had the timeout first set to 8 seconds. [20-08-21 08:55:34.2418] First, I reproduced the case of getting no body data from the server. [20-08-21 09:04:55.9254] Then, I tried "normal" internet radio stations [20-08-21 09:23:16.0842] Then, I gave my own server "normal" signal again and tried the working case, but this time with a very tough timeout of 1 second. Everything working well. +---+ |Filename: server.log-2.txt | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=31338| +---+ schup011's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66557 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112774 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Streaming Radio: HTTP connection is not closed
I got it running. There was a $self-> in the setTimer line missing. I inserted a log command to check: Code: # After reading headers, some callers may want to continue and # read the body sub read_body { my $self = shift; my $args = shift; $self->socket->set( passthrough => [ $self, $args ] ); # Timer in case the server never sends any body data my $timeout = $self->timeout || $prefs->get('remotestreamtimeout'); Slim::Utils::Timers::setTimer( $self->socket, Time::HiRes::time() + $timeout, \&_http_read_timeout, $self, $args ); $log->debug("Set read body timeout to " . $timeout); Slim::Networking::Select::addError( $self->socket, \&_http_socket_error ); Slim::Networking::Select::addRead( $self->socket, \&_http_read_body ); } Now it works!!! I cannot produce any dead connections any more. They are all closed after the timeout. Awesome. Thanks, bpa and philippe_44 for helping to analyze and fix this.
