Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Soundquality gets poor after 6-8 hours of listening
Good moorning I'm thankfull for your advice, If it would be depending on settings wouldn't it allways be echoing? This just comes after about 6-8 hours of straight playing the same stream, and if I change stream or just stop and play the same stream it's back to normal. The URL I'm playing http://opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?id=s10668&formats=aac,ogg,mp3&partnerId=16&serial=ba86dbf015b306c38fab7707932158ba is the one found via search in LMS, those two suggestions wont play in LMS and only the first play in web browser. l's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113843 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 8.1.1 released!
Using the latest git from AUR for Archlinux: https://aur.archlinux.org/logitechmediaserver.git (updated 2021-01-26) on my Cubox (armv7hf), I get the following error in the server log: * Compilation failed in require at /opt/logitechmediaserver/Slim/Display/Lib/Fonts.pm line 83* This is when I loaded a song with Chinese characters in the song name with the Transporter. Again, the Transporter is unable to display the Chinese chars correctly, just like LMS 7.9. But in 7.9, I was able to fix it by running the following: sudo perl -MCPAN -e 'install Font::FreeType' But this time, I did the above, but it did not work, and the server.log said Fonts.pm failed to compile. Can someone shed some lights on what might be wrong? PS - The logitechmediaserver code was compiled on my Cubox and it took almost 5 hours for the compile. Everything works great, including Tidal, except for the FreeType font problem above. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Unable to play flac files from Tidal HiFi
I recently subscribed to Tidal Hifi, and can confirm that switching from AAC->FLAC works with LMS 8.1.1 (release version 8.1.1 - 1610364019). I make the quality change via the LMS web interface, I.e. "My Apps"->TIDAL->"Streaming Quality"->"FLAC or AAC", and you should get a "Streaming quality changed" confirmation. It's not immediate though (not for me at least), like at the next played track. Changing the playlist seems to kick it consistently for me. Maybe the OP can try doing a playlist change. rootee's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=70728 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113735 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

A sentinel file in the top level of a media folder is recognized but not processed. The workaround in my case was to add a dummy subdirectory under the top level and place the sentinel file there. Following is an excerpt from the log file indicating that the directory '/home/pi/Music' is being skipped but, further down, the audio file in that directory is added to the library. It should be a simple fix as the problem is easily recreatable. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Deleting music from HDD of Squeezebox server
So Im not sure what fixed it, but it appears to be working now. I did a few things. I logged into Vortexbox with a monitor/keyboard/mouse instead of over the network. Made the changes again via the Nano etc/ripit/config that way and saves them. I also changed Proto from 6 to 5. Not sure if thats relevant or not. But after both these changes it now appears to work and tag as intended. I cant login to the Vortexbox via monitor/keyboard/mouse anymore for some reason. Apparently I just got lucky the first time. It lets me enter user of root, but wont let me enter any characters for password. Just no response when entering any character. Which is the same thing it did when I tried to login w Putty. Interesting. But I can still login via WinSCP anyway. Its working. For now. Gotta cross my fingers it stays this way. Thanks for all the help. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 8.1.1 released!
I did swap from Windows to PCP a while back, but surely the changes would be virtually the same irrespective of platform? The changes yes, but not how updates are handled by the LMS on those platforms. Eg. on Windows LMS would download the installer and only signal the availability once it's ready to install, and LMS would handle all of that. On pCP there's only a check to see whether new code is available. Bu then pCP would handle the update, not LMS. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

I think I checked on both skins but I recall the info was the same in both cases. ISTR it used to have a brief changelog though. Yes, there should be a snippet from Github. I'd have to double check. Maybe it depends on what platform you're running LMS. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS and Apple M1 Mac
Apologies for resurrecting/hijacking this thread but I have a similar issue in that my new M1 Mac mini 16GB RAM does not allow LMS to start. Ok, then we'll start with the same questions again... Open the terminal and run: /Library/PreferencePanes/Squeezebox.prefPane/Contents/server/slimserver.pl (that's one line) What would that give you? I have never experienced this, but an echo is created when a delayed audio signal is mixed with current audio signal. Like when you voice echos in a room, your ears mix your voice with the reflection of your voice. So, I would look into some signal path delay in your system, or, try another source - a different station, your media, etc. I only run sb "bought" devices - touch, radio, boom, receivers, and have never experienced it. Maybe its something specific to your squeezelite setup? Yep, I've never actually used the VB for ripping CDs myself. In my experience, at times, sync is not perfect and can time shift over time. I have found times where I sync and its obviously off, then resync and it's better. As you mentioned - changing a station initiates resync. To be honest, I rarely use sync where I hear both systems. I use it for example, when I am working and moving from room to room. I only hear what you experience if, say, I have one room louder than I normally would. I have never tried to "fix" it. There are player settings that I have never tried - LMS Control Panel-> Settings -> Player (Tab) -> Choose Player (Pull Down), Synchronize (pull Down), the final 2 seem to be related to sync adjustments. Like I said, I have never tried them and may or may not be relevant with all the changes to LMS?? Maybe someone else can chime in. There are some threads on this, but I can't recall exactly where, let me look around. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS and Apple M1 Mac
Apologies for resurrecting/hijacking this thread but I have a similar issue in that my new M1 Mac mini 16GB RAM does not allow LMS to start. Although new to Mac after over 12 years happily running my Logitech Duet with 2 receivers (2 hifi installations within the property) on Windows, I have read the instructions above and authorised full disk access for: bash, sh, perl and perl 18 in security settings. I have also run the command line suggestions offered without positive result. Although LMS is installed on the Mac, it is only visible in System Preferences and not as a loaded app. Opening the app via System Preferences, the server will not start when the button is pressed, neither can I point the app at my music folder as large sections of the library field are greyed out. Similarly, I can not log onto my account as that section is greyed out. I have over 200 gb of music files which currently cannot be played. I would welcome any advice as to next steps but would ask for a systematic list of actions as I am very new to the Mac OS (Big Sur). I think I checked on both skins but I recall the info was the same in both cases. ISTR it used to have a brief changelog though. Not quite sure what you mean by sending out announcements, but the issue with using a new release thread that effectively announces it, is that to pick it up one has to subscribe to the entire forum which is rather onerous. An Announce (only) thread could at least be subscribed to, and it also helps folks log issues with meaningful thread titles rather than bury multiple issues in a mega-thread, which is a nightmare to search. The irony that I'm doing exactly such a thing with this request isn't lost on me. ;-) mr-b's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10044 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113672 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
