But it's not: I get a crash when I scan, and if I rescan again, the crash is gone. Since crashes appear less than once a week, I would too live with 50%, 25%, 12.5%, etc... of my music for a long time. I changed the name of this directory that *looked* like the one last scanned before each cash, even though we did not understand how LMS went there. My main network is 192.9.200.x which is also an official one I think, and that never was a problem. The point was just that the same folder B:\Music is used by 2 different LMS instances, running on 2 different networks bridged through a VMWare virtual machine so that only this folder is common to the 2 networks. If my WIFI is compromised, the main network remains invisible. The second LMS server never crashed, but I don't do many rescans with it. That's the only unusual thing with my setup, aside using B:. I tried to make a junction on C:\Music pointing to B:\Music, so that LMS could browse into it. That did not prevent the crashes, so using B: is not the problem I think. Never had any problem using A: and B: for anything so far. Counting all my network shares, I'm almost out of letters, so I also have drives mapped to folders. This is nothing in the settings that points to ihumor. I scanned my library and playlists to search for either the name of the directory ihumor or for the funny-thelink file itself, nothing. Then I scanned it for any file containing one of these 2 strings, still nothing. Then I made a script to look for any symlink, nothing! I also made a clean D:\m1\ihumor\funny-thelink.gif from D:\m1\ihumor\funny-thelink.jpg and erased D:\m1\ihumor\funny-thelink.jpg. Finally, I changed the name of d:\ihumor to d:\ihumor2. We'll see if LMS crashes on ihumor2 now! What's weird is that there is no mention of D:\m1\ihumor\funny-thelink.jpg in the scanner log. Thanks for your help. I have been testing regularly new rips lately, adding files, re scanning, listening, erasing and re-scanning if I don't like them. Sometime, I use instead the drag and drop feature to listen without re-scanning. After a few iterations this way, LMS crashes. Making a clear library scan may help in theses cases, but I might get then an unexpected crash even when no player is running after. Emptying the cash directory always fixes the problem. First I stop LMS from the control panel, clean the cache, restart from the panel, and all works fine then... until I repeat the process of testing numerous new rips. Doing that manually became tedious, so I was looking to automate it. At first I was making a negligent misspelling of SQUEEZ~3.EXE, but once I noticed it killing became easy. Then I had the problem of having a persistent new Window, but I solved it also using the SW_HIDE flag with a C++ program using CreateProcess to start the server. I'm using LogitechMediaServer-7.9.0-1477086729. I made a post about that already: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?106571-Server-keeps-crashing You very kindly tried to help, but cleaning the cache was how we ended. > > It depends on the way you're running it, really. Just killing the task > is a bit rough - and might indeed cause database corruption! I agree 100% I do it only when the cache is already corrupted, and I have to erase it anyway. I'm starting clean again, erasing the cache and all the logs. Next time I have a crash, I'll post here the LMS and the scanner log, maybe we can figure it out then? Thanks again for your time! Ok, now that I saw my spelling mistake, it's become easy to start and stop LMS with a .BAT file like: Code: taskkill /F /IM SQUEEZ~3.EXE taskkill /F /IM SqueezeSvr.EXE (code to clean cache here) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Squeezebox\server\SqueezeSvr.exe" >> c:\temp\SqueezeSvr.log 2>&1 Just one problem now: that starts an annoying DOS windows, and if I close it, it kills LMS. I tried redirecting to a file as shown above, but that does not help. How cans I start SqueezeSvr.exe without having a lingering DOS window? [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Command line on Windows to Start/Stop LMS
Hi, The LMS cache is often corrupted, and I need to clean it regularly. To do that, I must first stop the server. I'd like to make a script to automatize the process (on Windows 7 x64), but commands like: Code: Net stop SqueezeSvr taskkill /F /IM SQEEZ~3.EXE just don't work. The LMS does not seem to be installed as a regular Windows service, it's not listed in the services control panel. I can kill SQEEZ~3.EXE from the task manager (the DOS mangled name itself shows it's not launched in a standard way), but not from the command line. Starting it is easy though using 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Squeezebox\server\SqueezeSvr'. Any idea how I can stop it from the command line? So, I have 2 different networks, with a NAT router separating then. 168 address for WIFI, and 192 for the main network. I have a PC with 2 network cards, the second one (168.x.x.x) is connected on the WIFI side of the router and everything on it is disabled except VMWare networking. Then I run virtual machine who connects to 168, and exports the Music folder from the 192.x.x.x network. I run a Logitec server in the Virtual machine on the music share. Bottom line, Wifi users that only access the 168..x.x.x network have access to a server that sees the Music folder which is actually on the 192.x.x.x network. So, 2 servers use the same Music folder. But they don't use the same playlist folder, that would be a mess! It's been a while I did that, and the crashes are more recent. I could add a drive, and duplicate the Music folder with daily automatic syncs if it's necessary, but that would be a (mild) annoyance. > There's one message about a funny-link.jpg or similar. I scan music only. I see that the file is: D:\m1\ihumor\funny-thelink.jpg But I haven't set up the D:\m1\ihumor directory to be scanned! Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Server keeps crashing
With a new install, it's short, but the forum does not allow to post it entirely, so here it is: Code: https://transfer.pcloud.com/download.html?code=5ZJL3PZ34Df4fXQp4BZnGtVZ29Mjuj3zMHLfCgoivVfiPQanjvuy The server was crashed when this log was taken, it did on its own during the night. I restarted, added a couple of albums, and got a new crash after the second rescan: Code: [16-12-03 10:07:16.4544] main::init (384) Starting Logitech Media Server (v7.9.0, 1477086729, Mon Oct 31 04:05:46 CUT 2016) perl 5.014001 - MSWin32-x86-multi-thread [16-12-03 10:09:05.4362] Slim::Utils::Misc::msg (1244) Warning: [10:09:05.4359] Perl interpreter failed at /Slim/Utils/GDResizer.pm line 165. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Server keeps crashing
Hi, I'm using LogitechMediaServer-7.9.0-1477086729 on Windows 7 x64. A while ago, it started crashing regularly, maybe after an increase in the number of albums, I'm not sure what's been triggering the crash. I tried a complete uninstall, clearing all data, removed all the plugins I don't use, but I still get a crash every time I make a scan, full or partial, needing at least 2 restarts until it works again. How can I diagnose what's happening? Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] How to prevent upgrade notification
Indeed, although I chose instead to re-install the same version, which cleared-up the upgrade ready status. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] How to prevent upgrade notification
Silly me, I did not notice the drop down menu on the Advanced tab... Thanks! [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] How to prevent upgrade notification
Hi, I'm happy with the 7.7.6 version I'm using, and don't want to upgrade. The control panel taskbar icon keeps popping up a notification to remind than an upgrade is available. Is there a way to stop it from doing so?
