ÂLogitechMediaServer-8.1.1.pkg canÂt be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information." Had to reinstall a Mac mini machine from scratch. Now getting this message. Does anyone know why that is? I can understand this is not from the Mac store, but it says also "unidentified developer". But LMS has been around for a long time now? 3x Squeezebox Touch 1x Squeezebox Classic Server: Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9. Thanks yes - just wanting to know which is OS provides the most set-it-and-forget-it OS experience to run LMS on. Latest Mac OS is definitely not it. 3x Squeezebox Touch 1x Squeezebox Classic Server: Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Throwing in towel on LMS on Mac OS. Does it run OK on Windows 10 or is Linux better?
Been running LMS on a headless Mac Mini for many years, for compactness and quietness. After many years of running LMS on Mac OS, I've found it very difficult over the past year or more, with either the server not visible, or the library showing empty because no access to the files. LMS is the only thing that doesn't run properly on this machine - my Plex video server for example, runs fine on it. Tried troubleshooting on this forum, but it never works properly for long. And I can't even get it to autostart after reboots for OS updates etc. At this stage, I don't have time or capacity to deal the constant troubleshooting. So am thinking of moving my LMS to another machine. I found what is said to a fairly quiet compact computer (Lenovo M73) on the used market, with Windows 10 on it. Am wondering if people have found it more stable to run LMS on Windows 10 than Mac OS? Or would it be better to wipe the Windows and use a Linux OS? 3x Squeezebox Touch 1x Squeezebox Classic Server: Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9. After I configured > the settings, I was able to then assign my paths and LMS worked. This worked for me on Catalina 10:15:5 - definitelyI required a restart in order for the permissions to perl and bash to kick in. So the sequence was: You there 1) INSTALL LMS 2) IN LMS CONTROL PANEL SELECT FOLDER(S) CONTAINING YOUR MUSIC 3) SETUP PERL, using the sequence her[/B]e: https://learn.perl.org/installing/osx.html macOS Editors and Terminals Install "Command Line Tools for Xcode", either directly or through Xcode, both available from Apple Developer downloads (free registration required). Xcode can also be installed through the App Store application. Open the Terminal.app (found in Applications -> Utilities) and copy & paste the command below into it (then press the 'return' key): curl -L http://xrl.us/installperlosx | bash Once this is finished (it takes several minutes), quit the Terminal app. 4) GIVE PERMISSIONS TO PERL AND BASH Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Full Disk Access, and unlock the settings. Click the + button. Now type Cmd+Shift+G. This will open a dialog where you can type a path. Enter /usr/bin and then select perl to add the permissions. Enter Yeah/bin and then select bash to add to the permissions. 5) RESTART THE MAC 6) GO BACK TO LMS AND RESCAN - go to tab "Advanced" - select RESCAN Thanks very much to everyone who provided the necessary info. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] What is best way to transfer my LMS server to a different Mac computer?
I have LMS setup nicely on a Mac Mini, but I need to move my music to a different Mac Mini in the house...and I would rather not have to go through the pain of setting up and customising LMS again. Is there a simple way to move my LMS setup setup to another computer - the full thing, beyond the obvious part of copying the music folder? 3x Squeezebox Touch 2x Squeezebox Radios 1x Squeezebox Classic Server: Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.
