[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Synchronization problems, recently
Hi forum, Using Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.2 - 1572530107 @ Thu Oct 31 15:08:12 WEST 2019 (and I think v7.9.2, 1571644358, Mon Oct 21 10:08:21 WEDT 2019): I've notice a couple times in the past two weeks a significant (second or two) delay between a wired Boom and a wifi-connected SB2 that are in two adjacent rooms (hence my ability to notice -- not certain whether this applies to other SB devices in the house). These are set to be synchronized. The feed in both cases was a relatively low bitrate internet stream (CBC Radio 1). I see a few errors in the log, but nothing that looks at all related. (Mainly not being able to connect to mysqueezebox.com and "Failed to fetch http://bpaplugins.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/repo-playhls.xml: 404 Not Found", which appears to have been there for months.) For years now, synchronization has worked basically flawlessly, with the only problem being that if the network communication with one of the devices gets too slow for some reason all devices will stop while the server gets things back in synch. I only noticed the problem after I updated to the Oct 21 1571644358 version. I haven't had problems with synchronized devices being out of synch in literally over a decade I think. Wondering whether something changed in the code recently that might be responsible or if anyone has suggestions on how to debug this. *Server:* LMS 7.9.0; *Study:* SB Touch > C 375BEE DAC; *Spouse's Study:* SB Boom; *Master Bedroom:* SB Boom; *Living Room:* SB2; *Family Room:* SB2; *Kitchen:* SB Boom; *Spare:* SB Boom stephenkca's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7820 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Synchronization problems, recently
Thank you Paul and bpa for your responses! The problem seemed to go away on its own, and I thought it had perhaps been a networking hiccough. (The Squeezebox Classic that was out of synch is in an area that would be difficult to run network cable to, so I use wifi for that device. But it's also on the outside of the original 2 foot thick granite fieldstone outside wall, so the best wifi signal is in a line of sight through a doorway. I can manage 80% if the device and router node are positioned just so.) But I had more problems last weekend, the device started repeatedly rebooting, and once I replaced the power supply it was happy again. So my current hypothesis is that the marginal power supply had something to do with the synchronization issue. *Server:* LMS 7.9.0; *Study:* SB Touch > C 375BEE DAC; *Spouse's Study:* SB Boom; *Master Bedroom:* SB Boom; *Living Room:* SB2; *Family Room:* SB2; *Kitchen:* SB Boom; *Spare:* SB Boom stephenkca's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7820 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Slim/Schema.pm line 2308- SQL that returns multiple rows is DEPRECATED -log messages
Hi forum: Using Logitech Media Server Version: 8.1.0 - 1608700893 @ Wed Dec 23 12:02:03 WEST 2020 (though I think it occurred in previous versions) I notice that my server log is full of messages in the form: Slim::Utils::Misc::msg (1266) Warning: [16:28:30.8368] DBIx::Class::ResultSet::single(): Query returned more than one row. SQL that returns multiple rows is DEPRECATED for ->find and ->single at /Slim/Schema.pm line 2308 As best I can tell it doesn't seem to be affecting the server's operations. Should I be concerned about this? Does it constitute a real bug? *Server:* LMS 7.9.0; *Study:* SB Touch > C 375BEE DAC; *Spouse's Study:* SB Boom; *Master Bedroom:* SB Boom; *Living Room:* SB2; *Family Room:* SB2; *Kitchen:* SB Boom; *Spare:* SB Boom stephenkca's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7820 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113527 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

I'll report back once I've gotten through my 130 odd various artist albums  looking for anomalies. *Server:* LMS 7.9.0; *Study:* SB Touch > C 375BEE DAC; *Spouse's Study:* SB Boom; *Master Bedroom:* SB Boom; *Living Room:* SB2; *Family Room:* SB2; *Kitchen:* SB Boom; *Spare:* SB Boom stephenkca's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7820 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113527 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Player times 2 minutes slow!?
Currently using LMS 8.1.2 - 1610697261 @ Fri Jan 15 10:27:01 WEST 2021, though I'm not certain if this problem appeared with an earlier version. In the week or two my partner has started to complain that the alarm clock on our bedroom SB Boom is coming on after the start of the hourly news it is tuned to. (Not that I've been missing a couple minutes of updates on COVID-19 and politics, but it bothers her ;-).) I finally investigated this. It appears that every SB player device in the house had its time two minutes behind real time -- best I can tell exactly two minutes behind. (I have checked two Booms, one Touch, and one Classic so far and their times appeared to be consistently incorrect.) Both the LMS server they talk to and the router are set to synchronize with time.nrc.ca and have the correct time. I went digging in both the client UI Settings and the LMS Player Settings and can't find any reference to where players get their time. Fiddling around with the LMS server time (setting it a day early and the clock randomly not at the right time) caused one device I was looking at to see if this made any difference to apparently lose its connection with the LMS server and display a message about mysqueezebox.com. I changed the server time back to real time and hard-booted the device; it reconnected with the LMS server and its time now seems to be the real time. Where is the client time synchronization controlled and what is the source of the time? I was previously under the impression that time comes from the LMS server the client is connected to unless it has no connection, in which case it keeps track locally. (Thus the Boom will play a default alarm at around the right time even if it's not connected to the network.) But apparently my devices aren't doing this, or at least aren't doing it consistently or are subtracting a couple minutes from the time. Any insight would be appreciated. *Server:* LMS 7.9.0; *Study:* SB Touch > C 375BEE DAC; *Spouse's Study:* SB Boom; *Master Bedroom:* SB Boom; *Living Room:* SB2; *Family Room:* SB2; *Kitchen:* SB Boom; *Spare:* SB Boom stephenkca's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7820 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113717 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
