Uh - solved. The reason is that some files are suppressed by selecting "do not show lossy duplicates". I have quite a strange playlist problem. Some playlists display with all entries in the left hand window (where you can select files). However when I make LMS play these lists, some entries are missing in LMS's playlist window and will not play. This is despite the fact that the missing entries have the same reference structure as the entries that are not missing. Also when I select these files alone they are displayed and played without problem. It is the same file type all over (ie mp3s). The problem persists in the way that always the same files go missing. I know this was asked countless times (even by me) but I still have not figured out how to have all artists to shop up under artists (i.e. including those who are featured on compilations only): I have ticked: use single, configurable list of artists and selected band, orchestra only and then treat tag as Album Artist. Ok, i have updated the PCP from v 1.18 to v 8.10. As of now it is working on and off. I can play music fine but when another player is starting up it might stop playing. This is also the case when I sync or unsync players. On trying to make it play music again the usual behaviour starts to appear: PCP rushes through the playlist down to the last entry without playing anything. However, I can then again make it play music properly by playing music on another play and then sync this back to PCP. So sorry but I have to open this topic again. It seems that a more severe issue has developed. As of now I am no longer able to play any format (mp3, wma, ogg) on any player (pcp, slx, sbr). The server.log returns "Slim::Player::Song::open (413) Error: Couldn't create command line for wma playback for (file)" a LOT of times i.e. the playlist is run down and each item returns the same error. I think it's time for a new clean install. Other error messages occasionally appear but they don't seem to be the root of the problem: "([22-01-10 23:27:47.7357] Slim::Networking::Discovery::getFakeVersion (129) You're using a Radio with a buggy firmware not recognizing this version of Logitech Media Server. Please consider patching it. Until then we'll try to play nice and return a fake version number...)" WHAT? Hello, much to my surprise I have found out that LMS will not play any wma-files (any more?). I don't know if I have to install any extra codecs but I don't even know whether I have to install them in LMS or rather for single players like pcp or sqeezelitex. Up to now I was unaware of the fact that PiCorePlayer is indeed also a device you can run LMS on. I only have an RPI2 and run the 1.21b_RPi2 version. The logfile reveals that my SBR is not considered to be uptodate... oh well And it shows that for some reason the MusicArtistInfo-plugin tries to call last.fm for pics of some bizarre artists though I didn't even listen to them. The file does not reveal if this is what causes the lags. Hi, I have LMS 8.0 on my NAS, the latest programme version it seems. I also have a SB Radio and a PiCorePlayer on a RPI 2. Whenever I start one of these players or an App or SLX on my Windows 10 PC the playback stops. Often but not always all files in the playlist appear to have played. After a while I can resume playback but have to do so manually. Oh man I sorted it out. When SpiderJon mentioned this extra Option in foobar2000 it occurred to me that I hadn't checked the files in MusicBee's Tag Inspector. It turned out that each of these files had sth like ten extra tags like TXXX with single letter values. After deleting these extra tags LMS can display the files just fine. Hi, I have a folder with podcasts that are not included in the library by LMS. I don't know why that is as it's in the very same disc as all my other stuff which is recognised perfectly. The files are an hour in length and the size of 50MB incl. pretty long file names. I can play these files by selecting them in the folder view. But the tags will not be recognised. Hello, I have had this problem for a while but I cannot seem to figure out how to set up LMS. all I want is that every artist in my collection is displayed under "Artist" or "All Artists" or whatever might be in the menu. This must also include artists that are not album artists but must exclude composers or conductors etc. I have installed the "configure music menus"-plugin. 28048 What is the difference between "Gruppe" and "Band"? What is the difference between "Kuenstler" and "Interpret"? Why can't "Gruppen" be "Interpreten"? Why can't "Band" be "Album Artist"? Hi I made the podcast plugin work today, yeah! However I have a couple of questions: Is it possible to rearrange the order of the streams I have subscribed to? Can the podcast logo aka album cover somehow be displayed in this list? It would be nice to have in the overview whereas most subscriptions show the same cover for every episode and hence are unnecessary. Is there a method to display the read/unread-status? And also a method to save the actual position? Yes that would probably be the way to go. Thing is: I prefer listening to my FLACs at home, LMS can play them just fine. Also, I manage my music collection with MusicBee on my PC, FLAC is not a problem there either. I also make playlists in Musicbee that include both FLAC- and MP3-files. These lists are routinely detected by LMS and played just fine. I use SqueezeCTRL to download files to my phone which is handy as, amongst other things, it leaves the folder structure, file names and tags as they are on my NAS. I just copy the playlists as .m3u-files to my phone which finds the files in the list without problems. If I follow your suggestions I will have a bunch of albums twice both in MusicBee and in LMS and I just don't like this idea. (I do not have FLACs of all my albums but only from those that have recently been added.) I still don't understand how I can convert FLACs on the server to MP3s on my smart phone when I download them. I am aware of the fact that a converter has to be installed on the NAS but I have no idea at all which one it must be and where it should be saved (i.e. within LMS or on the NAS as an extra programme etc.) I would not like it if I had to preserve both a FLAC- and a MP3-version of the same song on my NAS drive. Hi there, I have tried and stored various radio stations under favourites. However their icon will not display in the favourites list. This is also the case when adding them to the playlist. On the other hand, the icon displays fine in the 'now playing'-section of the interface. BTW this is true for the browser interface and for the Squeeze CTRL-app. I am aware that the reason might also be inconsistent signals from radio stations but I guess that wide range stations like KEXP would be sorting out their streams. Deleting all .db-files except persist.db did the trick. However, once again, LMS downloaded artist pictures without any request from my side and without providing a copy in the default location. Hello and sorry for hijacking this thread. I have related problems. I have reorganised my library and although 'I couldn't get LMS to display all artists' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?108489-Artists-with-no-album-are-ignored) I have also reorganised the artist pictures. Following suggestions in this thread I have also deleted (several times) library.db and artwork.db and also cache.db from the cache. In the beginning this showed good results. But now many thumbs are wrong ie show wrong artists while the full artist picture (after selecting the artist in the menu) still is the correct one. I do have a recurring problem with tracks that do not have albums, sth which I have also asked about 'here' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?107646-Why-aren-t-all-artists-displayed): There is no entry for Hopkin - and many other artists - under 'artists' because i have no album of her. I cannot find these artists scrolling through the 'artist's list. Please see that I have tagged her as 'album artist' in an attempt to cope with LMS's inconsistencies. If you look at the screenshot below, you will find that Hopkin's song does not appear as a track associated with her. Instead, clicking on the artist's name results in an 'album' where all artists that have tracks without an album are cluttered together. Hi, I have another language running so I am talking about the add-on with the dice. I like this add-on a lot. 1. But I don't understand what the selection criteria 'random artists', 'random titles', 'random albums' and 'random years' actually mean. There's no difference between artists and titles when you select randomly. If there were statistically significant differences it would not be a random selection. 2. I see that the selection is not so random, e.g. ticking country will result in 10 tracks of 100 by Johnny Cash but none by T. van Zandt although the latter features more prominently in my collection. Okay what I did - with excellent help from the people at this forum - was that I removed all ID 3.1 tags after I wrote all information whatsoever into the ID 3.2 tags. I did this in mp3tag and had my collection filtered by file type. In addition I had removed all those double year/date tags which my files had. I think they were created automatically by MediaMonkey - there is a thread in this forum on this issue. I might have also removed the double Album artist - I had Album Artist and Albumartist - but I can't find any files to confirm this in one way or another. Mp3tag has a command 'remove double tags'. I destroyed some compilations by removing the compilation tag and the various artist tag. This was primarily with incomplete compilations from which I had only part of the songs. Obviously LMS also cares for the file path when compiling, so I had to separate folders or bring files together according to whether I wanted them 'compiled' or not. For this I used MusicBee and its excellent function 'Move files to organised folder'. I have some files where I accidentally deleted the tags before rewriting them and the information has to be restored from backup. Well. I think that LMS has not rescanned my collection properly although trying to force it to do so. Obviously you have to trigger the command more often. Maybe its cause I'm on 7.9.1 by Pinkdot. I have all my playlists in my music folder (in an extra folder) and do not have any problems with it. But I have gotten rid of a lot of compilations which I did not have in full. Compilations are only precious, I thought, if you perceive them as compilations and wish to listen to them in total (which is not the case with, say, '1999 Indie Top Twenty' from which you ripped 12 songs only anyway). I have gotten rid of them by writing the artist into the album artist. PS. Thanks, I managed to sort most of my files. However, there is quite a number that has not yet been eliminated from the compilation entry in the menu. It seems to me that LMS may not purge the compilations from its registry? Also I wonder if it has something to do with the file type and if .ogg-files are subject to the same tags? Hello, I have a lot of compilation albums. All these have a tag AlbumArtist=Various. I am not sure about the actual name but in a way that it works fine in MediaMonkey and MusicBee. However, LMS seems to think they are all different albums because I have different years in compilation albums (like The Best of R'n'R etc.). Now LMS gives me long lists of one song-albums of the same title which is just the opposite of what I wanted. Hi, recently I have changed the playlist format to .pls (on advice of this forum i believe). It seemed to work properly but as from yesterday (I think) all playlists say 'empty' in the LMS-interface while in fact they aren't. The syntax is such: [playlist] File1=../Various_2014_Wintry Mix 2014/01_Metronomy_Love Letters.mp3 Title1=Love Letters Length1=177 File2=../Various_2014_Wintry Mix 2014/02_Warm Soda_Postcards.mp3 Title2=Postcards Length2=225 ... The playlists are created automatically by Musicbee on exiting Musicbee. Could it have to do with an update I installed yesterday? It was just an update of a plugin I think sth like Music and Artist Information. I can't clearly remember which one. Only when there is no compilation for files under Artists // Various Artists // grouping of all the rest of these files into one single compilation takes place. It is not necessarily singles. I have a lot of files which I just happen to have like that, I don't know where from etc. and these are not singles, presumably they're taken from an album but I don't know which. The problem might be with the fact that not all these files have Album Artist but I am used to programmes that just use Artist in this case.
