Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Missing icon in System Tray
Yes, that seems like a good point. My gut feel is that it's definitely a permissions issue as I can run it from a shortcut once I'm booted to desktop. The bizarre thing is that I definitely got it to show in the tray on my previous w10 PC (that also had the same 'problem' - It's just I can't recall exactly what I did! ☺ Cheers Steve Sent from my Samsung Note III StevePalmer's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=42535 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106556 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Does it really matter? You can access all the settings through the web browser anyway. BTW you don't get this sort of issue with a *nix install of any kind. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Missing icon in System Tray
Thanks for this latest advice. It's all beginning to defy logic now! :( I added the shortcut as you suggested, but even then the tray icon is still not showing. As a last resort, the only way I can get the tray icon to appear is to create a scheduled task that runs at the beginning of my day. It's hardly an elegant solution, but it works. I'm really beginning to think it's a glitch with this new PC/Win 10. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Missing icon in System Tray
Great that it works if you start it manually. But I'd rather disable the other entry for the tray icon shown by Autoruns as well and move the shortcut you created on the desktop to the autostart folder for all users. To do this open an explorer window and enter "shell:common startup" (without quotes) in the address bar. This is usually the same as "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp". Then move your shortcut from the desktop into this folder and logout (or better restart the pc so that other instances are stopped) and login again. Then a single instance of SqueezeTray.exe should run and be shown in the system tray. reinholdk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36070 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106556 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Missing icon in System Tray
Check under which user account the SqueezeTray.exe runs. You can see this on Task Manager's Details tab. Usually this is the local Windows user account you've used for login. Guess you won't see the tray icon if it's different from the current user. But SqueezeTray.exe should automatically start for each logged-in user, so it's possible to see several instances of SqueezeTray.exe in Task Manager. Not sure what happens since you're using your MS online account for login. Maybe a local account is created and mapped to the online account? The only other thing I can think of (which may be a total red herring) is that I recall from another thread of yours regarding the installation of Windows 10, you mentioned using a microsoft account. Did you install LMS whilst logged in using your microsoft account, or a local account? Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Missing icon in System Tray
In the 7+ years that I used a Windows PC to run LMS before switching to a Pi, the LMS icon in the system tray has gone missing without explanation several times, sometimes for days/weeks, but usually turns up at some point. I have 2 laptops and a PC here all with Win 10/LMS 7.9 installed (but not used), the icon is visible on all 3 machines. I would just try installing the latest LMS server over itself to possibly give it kick up the backside. kidstypike LMS on Raspberry Pi 3/max2play/HiFiBerry DAC+ > AVI DM5 1 x SB3 - 1 x Boom - 1 x (Squeezebox) Radio - 2 x Touch - 2 x Raspberry Pi/piCorePlayer/HiFiBerry kidstypike's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10436 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106556 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

It might be worth checking the notifications settings (if you haven't already done so) - right-click on an empty bit of the taskbar and choose settings - scroll down to the hyperlink which states 'Select which icons appear in the taskbar' - usually the default setting is that everything is switched on with the button at the top As you will see on this settings screen, you can choose each or any of the icons individually and it might be worth having a tweak of the settings and then set it back to default to try and give Windows a nudge in the right direction. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Missing icon in System Tray
You keep saying LMS is running and we do not doubt that. From what I remember you saying earlier you have LMS set to run as a service. To verify this you can start "services.msc" and see a service called "Logitech Media Server" or on the Services tab of Task Manager called Squeezesvc. These are Logitech Media Server (SqueezeSvr.exe), not the tray icon. The tray icon is the SqueezeTray.exe which is separate from the server itself. If you can see both SqueezeSvr.exe and SqueezeTray.exe in the Processes tab in Task Manager I can't imagine why the tray icon is not showing in your system tray. 2 Duets - 1 for upstairs and 1 for downstairs Rock Solid with LMS 7.9 on WHS 2011 w3wilkes's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=22973 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106556 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
