You need to modify your SELinux policy to allow squid_t write access to /usr/local/squid/var/ or change your configuration to place stuff where the Fedora RPM would... (/var/log/squid/ /var/cache/squid/ ) The default SELinux policy only allows the squid daemon access to the default Fedora locations. Regards Henrik
[squid-users] Starting squid
Hello, When I run the following command: # chkconfig squid on # /etc/init.d/squid start I get a message from AVC: Summary: SELinux is preventing squid (squid_t) "write" to ./logs (usr_t). SELinux is preventing squid (squid_t) "append" to ./access.log (usr_t). I am running Fedora 10 and squid 2.7 stable 7. If I run squid directly from the /usr/local/squid/sbin/squid -z I have no issues. Thanks smime.p7s Description: S/MIME cryptographic signature

No flags should be fine. If it's not running you can try checking cache.log to see if there's anything out of the ordinary there. -D is still needed in 3.0 and earlier to prevent bad runs on network access by DNS. That should be fine by itself though for normal use. Amos -- Please be using Current Stable Squid 2.7.STABLE6 or 3.0.STABLE13 Current Beta Squid 3.1.0.6

Also, just out of curiosity, why are you starting it from cron - why not from a system startup (boot) script? Do you find it needs restarting periodically? Antony. -- It's beautiful, man, beautiful.
